Proposals for fish and wildlife rule changes announced

Public invited to discuss proposals at open house meetings

Rule changes proposed by outdoor enthusiasts, biologists and conservation
officers to improve the effectiveness of Indiana fish and wildlife laws will be
the topic of public open house meetings held around the state in October.

Changes to deer and turkey hunting laws, fishing regulations and state
endangered species listings are being considered. DNR officials have not made
any steps to adopt rule changes - they are simply presenting ideas for public
comment.

DNR biologists will be on hand to discuss the proposals at informal open-house-
style meetings scheduled from 2-9 p.m. on the following dates and locations:

- Acquiring lands and waters for conservation and wildlife-related recreation.
- Developing and initiating a management plan to protect and enhance wildlife
diversity.
- Improving effectiveness of educational outreach and information services.
- Expanding opportunities for public participation in fish and wildlife
management.
 
Maybe they wil finaly allow us to use rifles for dear hunting.. It is annoying to have all these nice rifles and not be able to use them in the state
