Inanimate Objects

So long as be blame the inanimate object we will never find a solution. Firearms no more cause crimes of violence than roads and cars cause drunk driving. Even today their are some who will kick the door when they stump their toe or throw the hammer when it strikes their finger. An armed society is both polite and friendly.

If we are going to blame the firearm then why don't we release the criminal and put the firearm in jail. Release the drunk driver and lock up his car. Release the burglar and put his tools in jail.

Will Rogers said something along the line, "Ingorance ain't our problem, its what people know that ain't so."

I can’t remember how many times I’ve seen people do that sort of thing.
Makes ya wonder don’t it.

Why guns may be inanimate objects, their introduction into human society, as with other technologies, has changed how we regard what is real or possible. Just as trains, planes, and automobiles changed our concepts of distance and time, modern firearms have changed the relationships of human beings.

Sam Colt's revolver was called the great equalizer. Since Colt, men and women are equal in all ways, providing they keep their guns. To deny them their weapons is to deny them the knowledge that they can make a difference when it counts. Try living without a car in most modern cities. Try taking a two week vacation without the benefit of air travel. In both cases, your options and quality of life would be severely limited. Now, try being your own man or woman if you cannot defend yourself on an equal footing with the sociopaths. A government that would put us in this situation needs some serious political renewal.

Technologies, whether they be firearms, vehicles, or electroncs are extensions of our will. They change us as we change them to suit our purposes, which in turn change the world as we know it. Thus, in a way, we have always been cyborgs, since human beings discovered fire and invented the wheel.

I would no sooner surrender my technological devices than I would my limbs. Thus, guns are not inanimate objects. They are living parts of who I am as a human being.
