In a .45 USP what;s more accurate the H&K or the Sig220?

To the experts on H&K USP.45 full size, and the Sig220, which one in your humble opinions do Y'all feel is the most accurate in firing at a range at 25 yards in general, using the best ammo for each pistol?

Never shot the USP. But I do own two SIGP220s, one in blue and one in nickel. Both can hit under 2" at 25-yard without me trying very hard.

I like the P220 much better than the P226.

Hey Longjohn, You have come to the right place. I am considered by some to be a
Sig-Sauer expert!!! (Not by myself; but
through the eyes of my peer's). Anyway,
to answer your question, a Sig P220 will
out shoot a full size H&K USP .45ACP on
a regular basis; hands down. I own both,
and the H&K is a fine weapon; but it will
not hold a light to a Sig P220A.

I too own both a P220 and a USP 45 (tactical). I have found that they are both pretty darn close, but the USP is more accurate with a wider variety of ammunition. (my model is at least) Bothe are two of my favorite handguns of all time.

My friend, Ala Dan, got me into this auto pistol thing. I purchased a Sig P220. Like most people that purchase Sigs, it fit my hand better. So, for me, it is much more accurate. And, Sigs customer service is light-years ahead of HK (like HK really has customer service :)).

I can't comment on the .45's, but I have owned a USP 9F and presently own a P226 9mm. Both were made in '94 (if that makes any difference) and the bottom line is that the 226 wins hands down in the accuracy department. Reliability wise, they were equal. Fit and quality of manufacturing goes to the 226. Note I still have the 226. HTH

We'll Thanks fella's for your input. It sounds like both guns are pretty close in quality and accuracy but, the SERVICE dept. for The H&K isn't there! which can be somewhat of a problem should one need parts and or service! Thanx again.

They're not close. Many SWAT and tactical miltary teams are still carrying the P220.
My DEA buddies who specialize in drug raids requiring pinpoint accuracy swear by their P220s.

I owned a P220 and could get sub 2" groups at 25 yeards with several types of ammo. The P220 made Chuck taylor's list of all time greatest guns.

I don't see too many PDs using the HKs in 45, it's usually the USPs in 9/40 that they buy or the P7s.

Want a 45 just as accurate as a P220 but concealable - Glock 30 baby. I sold the P220 but kept the Glock 30.

Do the math and go to glocktalk.

The bulk of the full sized HK .45 makes it unpopular with many. The .45 USP compact it better ergonomically for most- give it a try side by side with the 220 and decide for yourself.

Most of the SIG-aholics will hop up and down over this, but SIG has no 'magic gun dust' applied at the factory. The most accurate of these two is whichever one you are most comfortable with. I consistently out-shoot my friends (who own 220's) with my USP, and I shoot a USP better than a SIG. I also shoot better with my P-14 than my USP.
I must say, though, that NO-ONE has ever MENTIONED anything about a USP's frame cracking.........although it was brought up in the SIG armorer's class I attended.

Here is my 2 cents worth. The Sig is a more comfortable gun to shot. I dont much care for the HK docker lever and the grips just dont fit my hand well.

The Sig and the HK are both accurate and and ask yourself this question, how much accuracy do you need in a combat handgun? When most situations are below the 25 yard bench mark what is the practical application of accuracy?

I submit that in a combat situation, reliability is much more important than pin point target accuracy. A reliable weapon that will give combat accuracy is much better than a weapon that will give TARGET accuacy but not be reliable.

Anyway, shot both of them and find what you like best. You can not go wrong with either make.

I just had a cousin who graduated from BUDS training about 1 year ago, came down this past weekend. We always talk guns, showed him some of my new toys, saw them and commented when he saw my .45's. He said most of the guys on his team carry the 9mm Sig. The rest, 45acp yep you guessed it, SIG. He said he was on his way to Florida for training. He didnt talk too much about it though. He basically said the sidearm hardly ever gets used in training though.
