hello all today i was at the local shop looking for ammo and for some reason decided to buy a savage axis in 22-250.

i bought some nosler trophy grade ammo 55gr bt. well at the ranged with the nearly 7 pound pull and not a real good rest to shoot from and the cold the little rifle did quiet well. the following picture is at 100 yards three shots after sighting in and mind you it was very cold outside with a heavy trigger and not such a steady rest

i trimmed down the spring in the trigger when i got home today. next time i take her to the range i will have a front and rear bag and only a 3.35 pound pull

Very nice; congrats.

If I would going to buy a .22-250, it would be the Nosler 48 with it's 9 twist - what a great hunting rig for neck shots on deer with up to 75 gr ammo!

Nosler did what I've been thinking for years - put a real hunting twist on a .22-250. Savage did it once, but only with a heavy target rifle.

There's nothing listed about availability dates, but Savage's website shows a Savage Axis II series, same crappy stock but with an accutrigger, and the 22-250 specs show a 1:9 twist.. maybe a typo? If not, I'll be looking for a busted one to steal the barrel off of to see if it fits my model 10 Trophy Hunter :)

Not a bad little impulse buy if I do say so myself.

I own 2 Axis rifles (have yet to shoot one, but am playing hooky and going to the range on Friday), and could not be happier with the one I have shot.

Nice, consistent, small groups for $300 is hard to beat. Now start handloading for it and see what it can really do...
