Improvement in availability of .22 RF and primers

I don't know how it's going in other places, but .22 RF and primers are starting to become much more available in my middle California area. CCI Mini Mag round nosed and HPs and Winchester Super X .22 HPs RFs are available at the gunshops. I put in quite a stock of both. Prices are not out of line; not a cheap as when I was 25, but then what is:)

Federal Small & Large rifle primers and Large rifle Match primers are also available, as well as CCI Small and Large pistol primers. Prices are not bad, coming out at under around $4.50 per 100, which is high, but everything is higher these days, and that's not just ammunition and components. I bought quite a few primers as I have been hurting for them for some time. I've been wanting to load a mess of .308 for the Revolutionary War Veterans Association shoots, but have been so short on primers that I've been shooting .30-06 that I already have loaded. My Savage Model 12 BVSS in .308 is my most accurate rifle, and my right shoulder enjoys shooting it more than my lightweight synthetic stocked .30-06 Remington 700.

Has anyone been seeing greater availability of these? Maybe this is a crack in the November madness.:)

Still having a hard time staying stocked up on bulk .22's. It's put a real damper on my shooting because I would normally put 2000-3000rds a month downrange, especially with this very mild summer. I did manage to get a fair deal on 5000 WLP's back in February but priced them again two weeks ago at nearly double what I paid before.

Here in Central Texas I can without much difficulty find lots of .22 lr, and most handgun calibersat Wallyworld before noon on any day.:D Acadamy has a ready supply of .22 lr in bulk packs for a couple of dollars more than Wallyworld charges if there are not any there. Primers are a whole differant deal altogether. I have been holding off on getting into reloading due to the fact that I can not find primers anywhere around here.:barf:

Up until yesterday I would have agreed with you on the subject of .22lr availability. In fact on Friday I went to one of the local Wal-Marts and tried to buy 6, 50 round boxes of Remington .22lr ammo and was told I could only buy two each of any different Brand up to a total of 6 boxes. Unfortunately, they didn't have anything else to buy. Saturday afternoon found me at the other Wal-Mart and I was elated to see they had some Federal and Remington bulk .22lr. I told the guy I wanted 2 boxes of each thinking this store had the same policy as the other, but then he asked if I just wanted 6 of the Remington.

Anyways, maybe there is some more ammo getting in as I was able to buy all that I wanted in the same Brand. They still have the 6 box limit though.
