Ahh, another unintended purchase after a random trip to the gunshop. :D After getting a smokin deal on a muzzleloading rifle at ChinaMart. I got bitten by the bp bug I guess. So upon on of my trips to the local gun shop I saw this Ruger sitting in the case on the original box (box seen its better days but is intact with original owners manual) This old girl is beautiful no a scratch on it and the blue it pretty and shiny. I'm so excited, can't wait for all the stuff to come in to shoot her. I originally wanted to buy a '58 Remmie Replica from the big 2 but I ran across this first. I have ordered a Brass '58 Army Pietta from Cabela's tonight to hang on my wall. Anyway Just wanted to share. Have a good one!

LOL, Sweet Old Army collection you have there. And you are probably right about that but I don't think my pocket book can afford to many of them. So I'll have to settle with the spaghetti westerns. I ordered the brass 58 pietta to hang on the mantle, but its gonna be hard to not shoot that one LOL,

Cool! Should be fun!

I've yet to fire mine which I got last summer.... Been to busy with my other firearms.... Have the .457 lead balls, primers, and some powder too..... So that isn't an 'excuse' :) .

bought a 1973 Ruger

The prices on them have really shot up. From what I have seen, if you want a stainless, get ready to drop about $500.00. I would really love to have one, maybe if I do without beer for awhile-----

Do without beer?!

I quivver at the thought of no beer for two weeks......

......which is about how long I'd have to stop to make up for an ROA in beer money.

Bought a nice Old Army last week need a little help ?

I bought the ball from Hornady (457) and a can of Triple 7 .
I loaded it this morning with 30 gr. of Triple 7 and a fiber wad with a 144 gr. ball . I shot fine but a little high .

So I loaded 35 gr. of Triple 7 same ball and wad . It shot well but still shooting high . The sights are set as low as it will go ?

i,m thinking I will shoot it a little and my only fix may be to lower the front sight ?

Shooting a bit high is typical of the ROA adjustable sight model. If your ROA has a pinned front sight then a new higher front sight can be obtained from Ruger.
Or the rear sight notch can be deepened, and there is replacement rear sight blade available.
Or the rear sight can possibly be lowered with the help of a shim.
