That should put the wamp on bambi or yogi.

I chose a 2x Leupold on my 480 Ruger SRH. You might want to think about the 4x choice but you already own it. So, good luck and I hope you can shoot well with the new hand cannon.

I hope you are an experienced hand gunner. An awesome gun but not for a beginner shooter. That heavy barrel and porting tames it quit nicely but you better lay up a good supply of 45 colt to practice with unless you are well to do and a glutton for punishment. The scope will help with that but I still find it a better offhand gun then a bench rest gun so get them weights out and start pumping iron. Like my Walker I find it a whole lot of iron to be hanging onto at arms length.

You aren't a handgun hunter until you actually hunt with a handgun. But you have the gun for it. Learn to shoot it well and you will be fine. Maybe you can practice on woodchucks this summer. That would be a load of fun!

Well I am a very experienced handgunner....I have shot hundreds of thousands of rounds through a Handgun over the years, I Started shooting a pistol when I was 8.... My background is Law Enforcement I am retired Sergeant over 25 years of service, Early on I was on the pistol team and helped to win many matches, I worked my way up, was a Firearms Instructor for about 20 years now and of that was the Range Master for 10 of those years, I have trained police recruits for about 15 years, Firearms Instructor for Handgun, Shotgun, Sub machine Gun, and Assault Rifle and have been an Armorer since 1990 for S & W, Glock, since 2005 for Sig, since 2002 for H & K both handguns and submachine guns and 2002 Colt Assault Rifles M4 attended Blackwater training as well for Submachine gun, etc... OOps I forgot Benelli Shotguns Armorer too lol I have shot a few deer over the years with a Handgun Glock 23 and Smith 686 and well now I finally have the right tool for the job.... I am hanging up my deer rifle for this year and only using the Smith 460 XVR.... I reload as well so am well versed on all that is involved with that..... Hunting in NJ forget it I gave that up 5 years ago.... I hunt in New York where I have a Log Home in the ADK Mountiains and enough Acreage to have a little piece of heaven (just waiting for the kids to all be away in college to move there), the last few years I have also been hunting in Georgia, Maine, Pennsylvania and Colorado ..... the list seems to be growing.... I will probably end up in Montana and New Mexico this year... we will see... this gun is gonna get a work out that's for sure.... this is only talking about guns I am a Bowhunter as well served at president for my state bowhunting organization for 5 years too... LIFETIME NRA Member..... all in all that is me in a nut shell .....

New Mexico was where I got started handgun hunting from Jack Rabbits to deer, you picked a good place to get into the game. Friend of mine got his first bear there with a handgun but that was not his plan. Funny how things work out.

Sounds like you have life all planned out with lots of hunting.

I started hunting with a revolver for whitetails simply because it started to be a little too easy at woods ranges with a rifle and I am not particularly hung up with "getting my buck" every year anymore. I do it for the fun. I much prefer beef.

Been a handgunner for years,I use a 454 for bear, hog & deer.Just a heads up with the big handguns get ready for some real messy cieaning jobs.
TrustMe there comming.:D
