I'm not sure a Gatling gun counts as a rifle, but.....

I got to shoot this original 1875 Bulldog today at the range. 700 rounds through it, and another 600 or so through the assortment of pistols I brought with me. A most HOOAH kind of day!

If I had ever suspected that I'd live this long, and had a bucket list, this would have DEFINITELY been on it. It's good to have friends with connections. Today was a once in a lifetime experience that I'm grateful beyond description for. I know not many get the opportunity to shoot a gatling, let alone get to let it rock and roll. ;)

That's great, a must do adventure. Congrats.

If it's barrel is less than 16 inches, it's clasified as a pistol or SBR.

The funny thing is that it is not a machine gun but a semi-auto since you turn the handle to fire each round seperately and if the barrel is at least 16 inches, it does not need a tax stamp and registration.

Yes, .45-70. The rounds we were shooting were modern powder and the translation put it somewhere around 40 grains instead of the original 70 grains if it had been black powder. I didn't load the rounds, so I'm not sure on the details of that. All I know is that it was a blast to crank this baby up!
I'm really hoping that they let me clean it come monday, but I don't know. The owner has a crew that normally does that, but I'd love a chance to take it apart and see the inner workings, than put it all back together!

Awesome!! That's pretty stinking cool :)

I recently got to shoot a M110 with suppressor at 1000 meters with an actual Special Forces sniper as a spotter. That was really sweet, but I think you got me beat.

Wow, 700 rounds! That might eat into someones paycheck!!! I re-load most of my stuff and on a gatling gun the ratio in time to reload 700 rounds vs. how fast it would be to shoot them is mind boggling. :)
PS- How many rounds fit into one of the vertical magazines at a time?

Yeah, the 700 went rather quickly, that's why I brought other assorted toys along too.
The gravity feeder can hold around 60 rounds, but when you get to rock and rolling, you have a person standing next to it, constantly dropping the reloading blocks in. It's a remarkable machine!
Thank you gent's, it was a great day that I won't forget any time soon, that's for sure.

I've also got a buddy that wants to put it on the dive boat down on the Sea of Cortez. It would definitely make Marlin fishing more interesting.:D
