I'm moving...

Well friends, I now have the opportunity to get off the estern shore of MD and move back to the mountains. The house has a contract on it, and we are starting to pack. Western MD, or WVA, is where we are heading. Taking some tests for Sheriff's Dept., Park Ranger, and some other. Don't have a house picked out yet, but we have a 29 ft. travel trailer we can set up in a park for awhile. Some friends think I've lost my mind, but I think we, my wife and three kids, will enjoy the adventure. I'm originally from WVA, and really miss the mountains. You can take the Billy out of the hills, but you can't take the hills out of the Billy. I get disability retirement from when I was injured in the line when I was a cop, so we have a little money coming in. I can put an ad in the paper that says I train dogs, and start my business all over out there. Sound crazy?

Sounds great! What could be wrong with taking another step back from the rat race? (Like I read in Reader's Digest, even if you win it, you're still a rat...)

Arrel, welcome back. I moved to the hills(the western part of VA)aproximately one year ago. Who needs the beach when you've got rivers? Good luck.
 
Arrell - Heck, no, man, go for it. W MD, WVA are beautiful, the people are great (but you know that), good hunting & fishing, dang, one could get jealous. Personally, I'd go for WVA (more rational gun laws, and I heard that as of 15 May, WVA & VA have reciprosity on CCW (still trrying to confirm that). Good luck on the move! M2

WV is the place! As beautiful as Western Md but sane gun laws. Go for it!

Mike, the answer is yes, since 5/15. Both VA and WV have confirmed this.

Thanks for the encouragement folks, going up this week end to take a test at the sheriff's dept. and to look around some more. Might have to live in the camper for awhile, if we can't find a house. Not worried though, I've lived in worse and the kids will love it. Found a church ( always the most important thing when relocating) and they are letting me and my wife stay four days in their missionary cottage. This is going to be a blast. I covet your prayers my friends.
