I'm making some buttons.

Could someone sell me a few old time rimmed brass cartridges. Such as .44special, .38 or 44-40, .38 colt or smith, anything with a rim diameter larger than a hornet up to .45 colt. I don't care if it's shootable, I'm cutting the case heads off.

What is important is that the headstamps are deeply cut and easily readable, not torn up. I need to be able to polish it up without rubbing the brass flat, so really deep corrosion may not work.

I've already cut down some 45-70, it's easy enough to grind it all the way to the head and deprime, then bull anvil and clean out priming compound to replace it with a disarmed brass primer.

I don't need many, no particular cartridge, and assorted calibers are a plus.

Winchester or Remington, or even starline (with star) would add some vintage look to it. I can possibly find some of these perusing shops, but God knows.

I can contribute the following:

one each 20 round box of .45-70s
Brass cases
W-W headstamp
R-P headstamp
F-C headstamp
Nickel plated
Starline headstamp

50 round boxes one each of the following, mostly brass and Federal headstamps
.44-40
.44 mag
.44 Special
.454 Casull
.45 auto rim
.460 S&W

$20, plus a sample button, would cover the cost of shipping and brass.

If you could use any or all of the above, PM your mailing info and indicate what you would like.

I agree that free range brass would probably fill the bill. I'm over flowing with brass of numerous calibers and trying to get rid of some through any favorable means, so the above 350 or so cases are now available at the reduced cost of $0.00 and no shipping charges (to match the range brass). Hoping to see photos of the finished button product.

Unfortunately, range brass doesn't exist. I was absolutely astounded the other day to find twelve .45 colt!

Condor, I've got plenty of .45-70, chainsaw has offered me some small caliber rounds. I'll do better than pics. If you would like I will send five buttons to you two guys in trade. Find a shirt that you like that will pass a button of that size.

44-40 or special will be great Winchester or Remington preferred, but the only truly important part is that the brass headstamps be deeply punched and easily readable after buffing.

OK, how about I put together some .44-40s, .44 Spec, .454 Casull's, .460 S&Ws, and some more .45 Colts. Head stamps should be readily visible after polishing. Do you prefer all brass cases or some nickel Starlines as well? A few buttons will be ample reward. Whatever size that the larger buttons normally turn out should be fine.

If there are any particular rifle cases you would like, let me know what those might be. I have a variety of mag and standard cases.

Cannot oblige on anything like that but have a good variety of most anything that is at least semi modern, including some oddballs like .32 Winchester Specials, .375 Winchesters and .22 Savage Hi-Powers but I mostly form Hi-Powers from parent .25-35 cases. But no one seems to know how to make those Hi-Power cases, either factory or formed, last more than three or four loadings before developing neck splits. That particular round takes a 70 gr, .227 bullet that are still available, either jacketed or lead.

About two months ago I melted down a bunch of old cases to make some castings including several odd ball Sharps with splits.
If I still had them I'd send him some case heads for his buttons.
