I'm buying a new S&W, maybe two

I'm thinking I'll take advantage of the opportunity they are presenting us. They have basically told us we have 2 years to buy a "good" handgun, after that who knows what you'll get. The pre-ban S&W's are gonna be a lot more valuable than a post-ban. Just like pre-ban mags or pre-ban AR's. There is no way I will ever own a post-ban S&W, but I will own as many pre-bans as I can afford. Sound a little selfish? Might be.

After they go to the "smart gun" technology, I doubt anyone will buy their product. They will put themselves out of business. Meanwhile, I'm going to make a buck or two from their decision to bow down to the anti's.

No, don't do it!

I'm thinking that before the changes go into effect, that S&W may gear up their plants to produce hundreds of thousands of unmodified pistols anyway. They will probably have a 5 year supply on hand by then. Don't go overboard, like many did shortly after the 1994 AWB, where many people lost their shirts buying up preban mags.

Besides, there is plenty of better guns out there better than a Smith.

nralife: thank you. You just kept me from blowing $500 on a new 629. I bought an AO Thompson full auto after the '86 ban, and paid too much for a subgun that had been rushed to assembly. After the '94 ban, I kept my cool and got a great Delta AR for $800.
I still like the S&W's, and may buy another.

As I've been saying on the handguns forum, IT'S NOT S&W'S FAULT. IT'S CLINTON! It's Clinton's extortion tactics and a complicit media.

nralife,

I bought up a bunch of preban AR15 mags in '94 they were about $30. Then they dropped to around $15 and I bought some more, now they are scarce as hen's teeth and I'm sittin' on a pile. Still have my shirt, too. :)

Don't buy any more NEW S&Ws. Let 'em go belly up.

nralife,

Not really, guy. Just cruise the gun shows, you might get lucky. Most guys who have 'em won't part with 'em. A storm is coming...

Guys, I just see a dwindling supply of good, but used guns in our future...
There'll be a lot of 'thanks, but no thanks' to all the new stuff.

Hey Glenn, ya never know. Might be, might not be. Either way, right back at ya big guy!!! Don't you have the balls to fill your own blanks?

S&W is just the first. Once they start falling, they will all fall. What ever "dumb guns" you want, you'd better be getting them bought up soon. If you don't want to own a Smith, it sure don't bother me any.
