You know, those Palestinians might want to think twice about pi$$ing of the Israeli Jews. Seems that someone capable of taking out your 'family jewels' at 300 yds is someone you may not want to throw rocks at. I'm a little dubious about the 22mm super-sniper rifles described though. I'm sure the Brit media has it all wrong.

Here's some nekkid ladies protesting loggers. How in the world these people come up with these ideas, God only knows. I'm sure the loggers are appreciative though:

A silenced 22mm rifle? Cool, I want one. Oops sorry, back to reality. The tactics are good. You don't have the bad publicity of killing people, but you do have the mobs dispersing when the leaders are suddenly running for the hospitals.

There is a guy out there actually name Dr. Atari? Makes you wonder when trained snipers can only wound these supposed ring leaders. Personally I think its only gonna pi$$ them off more. People willing to attack tanks and machine gun toting soldiers with rocks and sling shots wont be too bothered with wounds. I think someone is trying to stir the $hit some more over there.

Ditto :D They had to make it sound that way though so that somebody would read an udderly useless article.

And about that 22mm??? That's nearly and inch around!!! That would have to be like a 2000gr. bullet, and they said it mushroomed? or rather *umbrella* in lamans terms (idiots). I'm sorry but a 22mm bullet would not mushroom upon impact with a person, and it would certainly leave and exit hole. They must mean .22 caliber, as in .223/M-16 or whatever else kind of assault rifles they're wielding.

Man, I gotta get me a silencer. That would be smooth!! :D

In Jeff Cooper's "To ride, shoot straight, speak the truth" he describes this very thing (.22 silenced thru the ringleader's lungs) as a nonlethal way to take out leaders.

22mm? Yeah right. In inches, that would be about a .866 caliber. Makes my .270 deer rifle look pretty puny. If I had a 22mm, I would give it to the enemy to shoot: the recoil itself would take him out.

I wouldn't be too sure of that. Historically, much of their courage seems to evaporate when the Israeli machine guns and tanks actually start shooting!
 
Varmint hunting Isreali style! I'd be willing to bet that they simply saw how our "cowboys" like to take out little p.dogs from hundreds of yards, and they probably figured that if we can do it, so could they! Their varmints are much larger though!

I hope everyone knows this: Those are not silencers!

This was discussed on sci.military.moderated, I think. Those large-diameter things on the ends of the barrels are adapters for shooting rubber bullets.

ITN, one of the NON-US news channels (cable 11 here) reported them as shooting "rubber-coated metal balls" or something like that. In the video footage, you can see them shooting in single-shot mode, moving back to replace the ball in the adapter after each shot.

EDIT: ok, so perhaps they are actually using silencers.. there's not enough information to know from the article. But still, the silencer-looking things in much TV footage are rubber-bullet adapters.

Actually I heard elsewhere that they were using silenced 10/22's. Would make sense in that they are .22 cal and a low velocity .22 would create those lesser wounds easier than a high velocity .223.

I'm still wondering if the shots to the groin are an intentional message or just errant shots. My guess is the Israelis are trying to send a message, loud and clear. If you think about it, that silenced 10/22 with subsonic ammo would be a heck of a nasty weapon in an urban environment.
