I'm almost ashamed of myself,,,
But happy at the same time. :o

I just found out that a local retail store started selling guns and ammo,,,
Then I found that an acquaintance of mine is the assistant manager,,,
So I asked him if he could call me when they get any .22 ammo in.

Barely 24 hours after I made that request he called me up,,,
He said, "There are 3 boxes of rimfire waiting for you."

Since I drive by the store on my way home anyways,,,
It was no big deal to pop in and buy the ammo.

I told him how much I appreciated this favor,,,
But I didn't want him to get into trouble.

He said it was no big deal because the manager said it was okay,,,
And he'll call me every time he lays back ammo for me.

It seems each employee can lay back 3 boxes for their use from each shipment,,,
Since he doesn't own a .22 rifle or handgun I can have his ration.

So now I finally have a person on the inside,,,
I offered to take him shooting some day,,,
He said that's a fair trade for him,,,
And he'll bring his own ammo.

I'm so happy I could just do a dance. :D

I have a similar connection locally and have been able to get .22lr each week for the past few weeks now. Some times its a box of 50 but other times its a bulk pack. I am also paying normal prices for them a box is $1.89 and a brick is $25. It is always beneficial to be well liked at the local gun shop.

Good for you guys!

I've seen some stuff online in the range of $55-$60 or so for a 300+ and or 550 rnd bulk pack. Then you gotta pay shipping on top of that.

I will say no to that all day long. And to all those people waiting for the ammo to come in and then buying as much as they can so they can sell it for twice the price at gun shows or to friends... you are doing a disservice to us all...

I actually bought some .22lr in a local gun store recently, and they had opened up federal bulk packs, and separated them out into ziplock bags, so they could sell less rounds at a higher price. I asked how many were in a bag, and the guy said 100. They were asking $8 a bag, so I thought I'd buy some for my poor girlfriend who has hardly any .22.....

I got the bag home to her, and I thought it looked pretty small for 100 rounds... that's because there were only 50 rounds in the bag! HAH... I'd been had! I guess I deserved it for not counting them in the store. That's a whopping 16 cents a shot for .22!!!!

Luckily we happened across some at walmart a few weeks latter at basically normal prices.

I have a Sis that works at Walmart. Same here for me. I just tell her I am looking for some every now and then, and in about 2 weeks she will have some for me. I keep 2- 50 cal ammo cans full and shoot the rest. I don't feel bad about it as it is common practice at all stores. Sad as it is--Sometimes it is who you know. With that in mind I do sell it to my friends and such at work when I have extra at the same cost I payed for it. Last load I picked up was about 3500 rounds. Sold 2000 to the guys at work and a few out at the range I shoot at.

Very nice of you 4runnerman.

That store I bought the .22lr for 16 cents a shot from is an interesting place. They really charge way too much for most of their stuff. But I've managed to haggle them down on a few used firearms, and looking back, I really got some good deals. But it took a lot of work!!!

It is however, scary what some people will do to make a buck... 16 cents a shot for bulk pack federal .22lr is just beyond comprehension.

For the record the guy working at the store did say "100 I think" he did not say for sure ;) lol... non the less, they were counted out 50 to a bag, and priced at $8.00...
