I'm completely calm, becuase I know that no matter who gets elected the government will be run at the direction of lobbyists for big-soft-money campaign contributors. We average folks will continue to bend over and take it, because we only have a "choice" that is no choice.
If you're expecting major social revisions as soon as the new administration (whichever it is) gets into office, don't hold your breath. Four more years of the same $hit in a different bag.[/quote]
This kind of thinking has elements of truth to it, but overall it is just plain incorrect. To say that there will be no difference in our lives regardless of who becomes president is misguided at best.
Aside from legislation that the president signs/vetoes, a LOT of policy trickles down from him through unelected people: attorney general, secretary of HUD (just look at the BS we've gotten from Clinton through Andrew Cuomo), Sec of State, etc.
Policy will always be affected by greed/money/powerlust/etc. But to throw up your hands and say "Bush, Gore? It doesn't matter" is flat out wrong.
Vote Bush/Cheney!
