Illuminated Scopes

I am in dire need of advice from those of you who are experienced with these scopes. I currently have a couple of Trijicons, and some Leupolds with illuminated reticles, but I want a couple more to put on two rifles, and want opinions. I was thinking about going to Swarovski or Zeiss, but don't want to overspend if it's not necessary.

Thanks

Which illuminated Leupolds do you have? I purchased the Leupold VX-3 1.5-5x20mm illuminated circle dot for my .308 AR. I have high expectations for it and think it will serve well, but would like to hear from others that might already have experience with this model.

I had a S&B FlashDot for awhile, but sold it because I preferred my Trijicon Accupoint Safari variable.

I've never tried a Zeiss or Swarovski IR scope, so cannot comment on them.

Yes, I'm talking about the illuminated dot in the middle of the crosshairs.

I have a Leupold VX-R.

I compared the glass in one of my Trijicon Accupoints and a Zeiss Conquest this morning in low light, and the Trijicon is every bit as bright as the Zeiss. Leupolds seem to be pretty good in low light, too. Haven't looked through a Swarovski in low light, so don't know how it compares. It should be a lot better, given that it's two times the price of either of the others.

Got a few different brands, but Nightforce has become my favorites. Hopefully another coming in this week for me after a relatively long wait.:)
Just throwin' them in the mix, since you seem to be in that price range.

Maybe not the best glass, but built like a tank.
I do like how Leupold's illumination control has off points between each setting which is a minor shortfall of the other brand.

I have two Bushnell 4200 2.5X10X50 #4 Ill Dot scopes on the rifles I am hunting with so far this season. They are birghter than my Ziess 2.5X10X44 Conquest, brighter than the Leupolds VXII or VXIII, Burris, Bausch & Lombs, Weavers and a lone Nikon. I wouldn't know how they measure against the Khales, NF or Swaro but they cost about 1/4 of what those cost.

Thanks for the input. I'll check out the Bushnell, and some others. I looked at a Nightforce yesterday at Cabela's. You're right, not the brightest glass out there, comparatively speaking, but built for stout for sure.

I also looked at a Burris Eliminator. it is a combination scope/range finder/bullet drop calculator, 4-12 power. Expensive($900.00), complicated, and the glass was so-so. Interesting concept, though. You can dial in your caliber/bullet weight, and it automatically calculates your holdover out to 800yds. It has a series of five illuminated dots in the vertical below the crosshairs, and you just put that on the target and shoot. It had like six pages of cartridges listed.
