Illinois Rifle sales Questions

Don lives in Dupage County. He has a FOID. His friend gave him a few rifles; Don wants to sell them.

Any concerns with Don selling thru the gun auction sites, FFL-to-FFL?

Can he sell FTF to a FOID holder?

Any reason he can't just sell to the local shop?

What else am I missing?

Buyer must have a valid FOID and a 24 hour waiting period applies for long guns and 72 hours for handguns, the waiting period starts when the terms of sale are agreed to. You can check the validity of the FOID card here: https://www.isp.state.il.us/foid/foidp2p.cfm

Seller must keep a record of the sale for 10 years, this must include a serial number if applicable, description of the firearm, and FOID card number.

Your friend, Don, can transfer a firearm through an FFL if he likes. He can also sell to another IL resident face to face provided the buyer has a valid FOID, waiting times are abided by, and the FOID is checked on the state police site linked above.
