House Bill 2414, http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/Bil...B&DocNum=2414&GAID=8&SessionID=50&LegID=17433
a bill that would result in the banning of nearly every gun you own, may come up for a vote any day now.

The outstanding efforts that gun owners have made to bring attention to this bill are paying off. Some supporters of HB2414 are getting nervous. They have even resorted to telling fibs about their real position on the bill. One of these representatives is Linda Chapa LaVia who is from the Aurora area. In a recent newspaper article, Chapa LaVia claimed that she opposed HB2414. However, Chapa LaVia is signed on as a Co-Sponsor of HB2414. Chapa LaVia is trying to sneak under the radar – telling the public one thing but, when it comes to voting, she’ll side with Daley and Blagojevich.

It’s very important that we remind Chapa LaVia that you are watching her. She needs to know that she can’t have it both ways.

3 THINGS THAT YOU MUST DO TO HELP SAVE YOUR GUNS…

1. Starting Tuesday morning, you must call Chapa LaVia’s Springfield office at (217) 558-1002. Politely tell the person that answers the phone that you know that Chapa LaVia is a sponsor of HB2414 – the Daley Gun Grab. Then tell them that you also saw the article in the Daily Herald where Chapa LaVia said she opposes HB2414. Ask the person who answers the phone to clarify Chapa LaVia’s stance on HB2414. It does not matter if you live in Chapa LaVia’s district; call anyway – SHE OWES THE GUN OWNERS OF ILLINOIS AN ANSWER.

2. Pass this urgent alert on to all your gun owning friends and tell them to call Chapa LaVia too.

3. Post this notice on all gun-related internet chat rooms and bulletin boards to which you belong.

Thanks! The future of your right to keep and bear arms depends on your active support of these efforts.

*BUMP*

There is NO grandfather clause in this bill! If you have high cap magazines then you will have to turn them in or destroy them.

BLAGO is at it again

Blago (the gov) has just annnounced a new push for HB21414 this election year.

I hate this state.

These Liberals never seem to understand that criminals will not follow the new laws, this is ridiculous and take a look at some of the idiots who signed for this bill, it's insulting to the citizen.

I would bet this thing http://www.ilga.gov/house/Rep.asp?MemberID=928 has never experienced attack nor has participated in any recreational shooting fun.

I love this logic " Let's ban all hi-caps because good citizens with hi-caps are a danger to society, or perhaps my office term, and when the good citizens don't use hi-caps neither will terrorists and drug dealers!!! hehehe"

Good logic huh?

This guy certainly doesn't look like he's a sportsman

The Gov using my tax dollars for his political campaign

Blago to Judy:

"Hurt your own campaign and help mine by crossing over and supporting my ill-conceived sweeping semi-auto ban"

His message paid for with your tax dollars.
CAMPAIGN 2006
Blagojevich prods Topinka on gun ban

By Rick Pearson
Tribune political reporter
Published March 26, 2006

Using taxpayer-financed resources, Gov. Rod Blagojevich issued a letter and news release Saturday asking his Republican re-election opponent, Judy Baar Topinka, to support his call for an assault weapon ban.
A campaign aide to Topinka, the state treasurer and the lone GOP statewide officeholder, criticized Blagojevich's use of state materials for what the aide said was a blatant campaign-oriented letter.

"He'll do everything he can to win, whether it's raising millions of dollars for his political war chest through pay-to-play politics, to using state resources to try to win the governorship," said Topinka spokesman Roger Germann.

But a spokeswoman for the governor said Blagojevich thinks he needs help in attracting suburban Republican votes for the weapons ban legislation. "We thought as we're trying to get the votes we need, that we would ask one of the state's leading Republicans," said the governor's spokeswoman, Rebecca Rausch.

In the letter and news release, written on state stationery, Blagojevich said he was urging Topinka "to put politics aside," while trying to link Topinka to national and state rifle groups. Topinka has opposed a broad assault weapons ban that includes firearms citizens can legally own now.

"I am writing today to urge you to change your position on the assault weapons ban and to use your influence and position as the state's top Republican official to work with your fellow Republican members of the General Assembly to support the ban as well," Blagojevich said in the letter.

"I know that the National Rifle Association and the Illinois State Rifle Association are powerful special interests, but as public servants, it is our responsibility to put the safety of the people ahead of the demands of groups like the NRA and the Illinois State Rifle Association," his letter said.
