It cheeses me off the see the Republicans roll over on certain districts. They pulled this in Georgia when Sam Nunn ran for senator. I had the Soviet Choice - Sam Nunn or nobody.

"Getting straight to the point, the “big” race everyone is paying attention to in Illinois is the 10th district, a dull race between two “moderates” that could go either way. BUT, those of us in the CHICAGOLAND AREA have to go up against the Democratic machine which has run the city for 70 years.
I live in the 1st congressional district, where we are trying hard to build support AGAINST Congressman Bobby Rush ( www.bobbyrush.com ) He is one of the most left wing extremists in Congress: Bobby Rush voted with the American Conservative Union 0% of the time last year. (For comparison, even party loyalist Jesse Jackson Jr. voted with them 8% ) of the time.
Bobby Rush was on the house floor last week among the chorus decrying “Gary Graham being Martyred”. He was the Spike-Lee look alike (directly standing left to Gephart) loudly applauding President Clinton on the day he was impeached. He’s the one who insisting congress should discuss “slave reparations” because his former colleagues at the Chicago City Council did so. He’s for abortion on demand. He’s never meet a tax he didn’t hike. And, for all Freepers who warn day after day that they’re “coming for our guns”, Bobby Rush has made it his 'personal crusade' to ban all guns after his son was killed in a drive-by shooting. (Ironically, Rush was ONCE a BLACK PANTHER who was jailed for believing blacks should have guns on demand)
Bobby Rush has introduced a bill that would confiscate ALL guns unles they're used by on-duty police officers and military personal. As I’m sure you’re aware, a Democratic-controlled congress would rescue his bill from limbo next year.
Luckily, Bobby Rush is now more vulnerable than he’s ever been. His “favorably” rating in Chicago is in the 30s, and after his run for Mayor (where he couldn’t even get a majority of black votes despite the fact he is one), the Daley machine is bitter at his disloyalty and has REFUSED to support him!
In the primaries, he only got 60% of the votes as an incumbent (compare this to the near 90% he got in 1998). Low voter turnout among “disgruntled democrats” who stayed home rather than vote for a different democrat is the ONLY thing that saved Bobby’s butt.
Bobby Rush’s ONLY announced Republican challenger is Ray Wardingley, a great conservative who I had the pleasure of having dinner with a few weeks ago. Ray’s a self-made success story, who made a living as a entertainer for hire (now retired) and his a lifelong Chicagoan. He now runs the Neighborhood Watch program.
Ray Wardingley is a great admirer of Dr. Alan Keyes and is running on a similar platform. “You have to be optimist and tell them what you’re for “, he said. “I am Pro-Life, pro-God, pro-Gun, pro-Constitution, and Pro-Country”.

and see the ISSUES he supports. I’m proud to support Ray Wardingley, but I’ll be honest, while we have a slim chance of winning, we face a MAJOR uphill battle. Ray only has a skeleton staff and volunteer workers aboard (about one to cover each neighborhood of 20,000 people).
He hasn’t gotten any support from the Illinois GOP, which has written off 5 or 6 districts in the CHICAGOLAND area as “safe Democrat” and “unwinnable”.
Certainly, he can’t win using a traditional Republican platform, because the district is majority black. Ray need to get slightly over 1/3rd of black city goer votes (we’re aiming for 35%), a majority of white city goes (51% or more), and a huge lead of white suburbanites (75%) to win. To become viable, he needs YOUR help now!!
Anyone who live in the CHICAGOLAND area (all the way from southern Wisconsin to northwest Indiana) can help DIRECTLY. There is roughly 10 million people here, so we need to get the word out. *People willing to put signs in their yards and bumper stickers on their cars for Ray (call his campaign office in about 2 weeks and they're be ready, you can get one for FREE)
*Anyone able to secure an endorsement from a PROMINATE black republican, or pro-constitution 3rd party (libertarians?), or conservative Democrats
* Some Chicago radio biz insiders to get Ray Wardingley some air-time for interviews.
* Some local cable access insiders to get Ray on television (ads not neccessary)
* Someone willing to provide volunteer time to get a website for Ray (right now, Bobby Rush has two websites and Ray has only published his issues online)
