IJ 22 supershot sealed eight - firing pin help

I recently acquired a Iver Johnson 22 supershot sealed eight. The revolver is in remarkably good condition. Blueing is in almost perfect condition. I'd really like to shoot this gun as it looks like it will be a fun shooter.

The only issue is it has a broken firing pin. I found a replacement but the guns firing pin was removed when I got it and I'm not sure if there is a firing pin spring? The pin is very short, its uses the offset pin.

If you know what these are hopefully you can tell me if I need a spring :) thank you all for your assistance in advance!

It wasn’t a diagram per se. it was a video on you tube. That video didn’t go into the firing pin though. But I can push my firing pin and it returns under spring pressure. So there is a spring. Bob’s Gunparts http://www.gun-parts.com/iverjohnson/ has parts and lists the firing pin spring. You pretty much have to call them though to make sure you order/get the right part. Very nice people to deal with in my limited dealings with them.

FYI I have the next model called the model 844. The last iteration of the Supershot line. Only difference is the cylinder is unfluted on the model 844. Mine is also in superb condition.

Although I still believe your revolver needs a firing pin spring, I notice several differences between yours and mine. I suspect you have one of the earlier versions and mine is the latest version. If yours is indeed the offset firing pin, and I don’t doubt it is, it is different than mine that has the flat tip. It still looks like there should be a place for a spring but I suppose it could be different than mine.

Two other differences are the barrel profile and charge hole relief for the firing pin. This relief allows mine to be dry fired. Jack First

There are three different firing pins for the model. Jack first has all three so you need to remove the one in the gun to get the right one .
