If you're shopping, don't overlook the CZ P-07!

I've seen a lot of new buyer/tire kickin' threads lately, and I just have to mention CZ, and in my recent experience, the P-07.

It compares well in size to the Glock 19, and it handles like a dream. It's a hammer fired, double/single action pistol, and that single action is something many folks can only hope to achieve.

It's accurate, it shoots fast, it's reliable, and it's priced right. This isn't one of those "best bang for the buck" guns. It's one of those "best" guns, regardless of price. It makes no apologies for quality.

Do yourself a favor if you're shopping. Find one, hold one, and buy it!

I keep looking for the revamped P-07 locally but they never show up and when I ask I'm told none are in stock with distributors. I see them online but I'd like to handle one first if I could.

Saw and handled one at my lgs this past weekend. Definitely my next purchase for fall/winter carry. Love the sa trigger pull, the da pull will lighten with use I think. Just debating between 9 and 40.

Recently got its big brother, the P-09. Dropped some coin at Cajun Gun Works for it, and it's quickly becoming one of my favorite range toys.

I have had a bunch of CZs over the years. And other quality semi-autos. I have a tuned CZ-85 Combat, a Sphinx SDP, a P-07, a tuned S&W M&P Pro (in 9mm), a BHP, etc., etc. The Sphinx may be the best of the bunch, by a small margin, but the P-07, the 85 Combat and the M&P Pro (fully "Apexed") are very, very close. (Note: I also have a Gray Guns-tuned SIG P228. If I had to get rid of all of them, but one, I think I'd have a breakdown, as making the decision would be very difficult.)

For the money, I don't think there's a better value out there. I bought mine used. Great trigger, both SA and DA.

However, LN says, the Czech arms maker will not get a bad deal either since last year, the government approved the Defence Ministry's plan to buy 5,500 VZ Phantom pistols for over 70 million crowns without a tender.

Idk, if I have to choose between a contract for 421 pistols or 5500 pistols, I think I choose the latter.

Their reasoning is also logical to me:

The military police have ordered Glocks not to change the training and manipulation habits. Besides, the pistols enable the carrying of a weapon in public in a concealed manner, Lenka Haberova, from the military police main command, told the paper.

farmboy - Welcome to the fan-club and well said. The P-07 stands on it's own merits against any gun, not just those in it's price range. I had a fairly open budget and picked it. The runner up when I was shopping was the P229.

I recently found a great deal on the new sp01 tactical supressor ready in urban gray... I had to have it, so I sold my ruger sr1911 and bought the sp01... and man am I glad I did... The sp01 has become my favorite gun at the range and resides permanently in my nightstand. It was my first CZ and I am afraid I got the bug, The p01 may be next the p07 is on the list and so is the 85 combat... We shall see! love these guns!
