My M1A1 carbine made in '43 was 700 bucks in 2010 D)
My M1 rifle made in 1944 cost 595 in 2008 and just sold out last week, although I'm not sure I would get a WWII example for that price now
My 1944 P.38 was 525 bucks in 2008

The '44 M1 is without a doubt my favorite though

1000 is a bit of an odd price point for WWII firearms. Kinda expensive for common rifles and pistols and a little cheap for the uncommon stuff...

A genuine mosin sniper goes for about 900
Finn m28/76 goes for about 900
A SVT-40 goes for about 900
You might sneak into a 1911a1 pistol for 1000

Unless pristine a m1 or m1 carbine goes for less...600-700 is about right
Most of your bolt action WWII rifles are from 125 for mosins to 600 for good matching non captured k98s or USA bolt actions.

I'd try to find a 1911 but if I were looking for a rifle, it would be a M1.

If I could spread it around, an M1 Garand and a Canadian Inglis Hi-Power.
