my fiancee and i are buying our first home and some of the toys need to go to help pay for "adult" things (my choice not hers lol) so i have 2 colts that i'm thinking of selling. 1st is a stainless 1911 mkv gov't and 2nd is an anaconda 4" .45lc. i bought both used and the anaconda came with the box and outer sleeve but no papers with very few rounds through it and i have put a total of 100 rounds of cowboy loads and it was amazingly accurate but i don't reload so thats the only action the gun has seen in the 1 1/2 years i've owned it. the 1911 was well worn when i got it, alot of rounds down the pipe, a wilson combat bushing was added and possibly a trigger job.
i also own a model 29 so that takes care of my revolver needs and a glock 27 and possibly a 30 down the line that will take care of my semi auto needs. help me decide.

+1 Buzzcook

You could always find a 1911 45 for a ok price but the anaconda price will always be going up.

If you were local I would say keep the 1911 and if I couldn't find a buyer for tha Anaconda for you, I would sacrice and just buy it myself...

if one does have to go i would say the anaconda simply for the fact that it gets shot less, and after all that's why i bought my guns. its hard to replace a gun with soul, maybe unload a glock or two and get the cash you need, they are easily replaceable.

<shovenism>tell the Mrs. that you'll put off the glock 30 for awhile and with the economy either of those guns are only worth about 500 bucks so it would be a wash money wise, and a big bath on the sentimental value. wait acouple months and get the g30 and sleep on the couch for acouple weeks, sportscenter can keep you company:D
p.s. whats she selling to help out? </shovenism>

I had a Anaconda .45 and it was totally a piece of CR*P and I have a Colt automatic .45 and it is most excellent. Just goes to show you. The Colt would be the last auto pistol I would sell, I think. You can do what you please but yours is stainless on top of everything else so should last forever. Easier to fix than that out of production snake gun if it ever breaks something. The auto will never get "out of time" I am not high on late production Colt wheelguns. Got burned a few times. Both could be fun plinkers(if the revolver will extract cases properly) but one is for hunting, and the other for SD, otherwise. So it depends on your needs, if they both work right.

I would say to keep the Anaconda except that it's chambered in 45 Colt. If it was 357 Magnum or the like I'd say keep it and sell the 1911 but in that chambering I say keep the 45ACP 1911.

put off the 30 see if she goes for that if not sell the 1911 because u can allways get those but not the anaconda espesually if its in 45 colt because those are probably rare but if you pick up the 1911 and memories flowback to u of shooting days then sell the anaconda or visa versa for the anaconda v colt that was hard to say because i love 1911s

I would sell the one I shoot less, If I had to sell a gun it would be the ones I shoot the least. I do not need any safe queens, the one that I own would be the first to go.

I would sell the anaconda. Should be worth more and you don't shoot it much. However if the gun you keep is for investment potential the anaconda is easily more uncommon.

Im with David the Gnome on this one. Due to the caliber I would sell the Anaconda. If it were .357 decision reversed.

here are come pics for you guys. anaconda, i added some service grips:

thanks so much for your comments so far, everyone has made valid points. i never shoot the anaconda but it is worth alot more and will keep going up in price. the 1911 fits my hands perfect and i have never shot another 1911 like it. i can't sell my glock b/c it's my carry gun.

Sorry I thought we were talking a 6 inch Anaconda. The one I had had mediocre fit and finish, not even up to S&W standards, more like a bad Taurus. Would not extract empties very well. Not very accurate either. So IMO unless you shoot it alot it is an investment but a safe queen. Many people on here cannot afford to set on alot of guns as "investments" as they represent alot of money just setting in the safe. They want shooters. Well I want shooters too. Hard for me to keep from being tempted to trade a gun that is just OK but has issues or features I do not like, even if it is sort of collectable. The exception would be guns that are funtional but would not bring any money to make selling worthwhile. A shootable gun versus a couple bucks in the pocket is an easy enough choice. Whether or not it is ideal. If it is broke, sell it off as parts. If you have wheelguns that get use then the Colt is the odd man out. You will still have the experience of shooting it to reference to or look back on. Not like you can "take it with you" in the end.

From a collector standpoint, keep the Anaconda.

From a shooter standpoint, keep the 1911. If the world changed tomorrow I'd feel more comfortable knowing I had the 1911.
