... (which I don't), what would you do?

Purely an exercise in helping me fantasize!!

For €450 I could buy a used Vepr 308, or a .303 British Lee Enfield from 19??.

These are actual weapons on sale locally, and I like them both!!:D
Even if I can't afford either right now...:(

Which would you get and why?

Vepr .308

Why? Cheaper and more widely available ammunition along with proven durability and accuracy.

The British .303 is a great historical gun in itself and I'd certainly want to get one as well but if it had to be a choice between the two I'd go for the Vepr.

Probably a steady supply of 308 in the future. Will you have a steady supply of 303?

That said, Lee-Enfield is way cooler

What's the exact model of Enfield? They made them from the 1890s through the 1950s, in two basic models with a lot of variations.

What's the availability of .303 British where you're at?

That seems a high price for an Enfield, but I'm not much up on their prices right now.

I have owned the vepr 308 and mine was 1.75 moa accurate. If the enfield could do better I would buy it. A gun has one of two jobs. Either fire accurately or fire a lot of rounds very fast. Since neither of these is fully automatic I would go for the more accurate.

Exact model, don't know... I haven't looked too closely because, as I explained, this is a bit of fantasy. If I look too closely, I get too interested!!

However, I seem to recall that the shop owner said it was 1927.... I think.

As for the cartridge, I think I've seen some around, but then I again wasn't looking closely.

And the prices... well, if you've followed any of my posts detailing my choices locally you'll know that prices are higher here than State-side.

If it is being sold by the shop, I could probably get about 15% off. If it is being sold by them on comission, then I doubt it.
