Stainless or HK's "Hostile Environment" finish.I just put a deposit on a stainless one but some people say the HE is more durable. The stainless seems easier to clean and you wouldnt see much holster wear if you were carrying but on the other hand its kinda flashy......Dam......I dont know what to do cause I really do like both....What finish would you choose and why ?? Thanks.....

I'd buy black because I don't like two tone guns. But you should buy what you like. By the way, I've seen posts recently that HK is discontinuing the stainless guns, so you should be able to find a good deal.

Tough decision. I am having the same problem. At first I wanted a Black one, but then I bought a fullsize stainless model. I just love the fact that the gun shows no wear. I look at my Glocks, and while they are not rusting or anything, the finish has worn off in places and they look old. Not that I really care, because it is a tool not jewelery, but it does make it lose value if you ever decide to trade it. On the other hand, the stainless HK looks just the same as the day I got it.

I have a USP45C in the "HE" finish. As much as I hate two-tone guns, I wish I bought it in stainless.

I carried it for 1 day in a SmartCarry inside the pants holster and had rust on the slide stop, proof marks and serial#. It was a hot day, and I did sweat on it, but I haven't had a problem with stainless guns, or the Glock Tennifer finish in the same carry mode.

Man that really sucks Rex....I know it was just some surface rust but still...I thought HK's HE finish was supposed to be just as good as Glocks Tenifer finish...Dam...I guess not....Well...you just gave me something else to consider....Maybe I'll just stick with the stainless version.... :)

I have a 357 Sig, .40, and .45 compacts all in HE finish. I carried the .45 for a year and a half and I carry the 357 Sig daily now for the past 7 or so months and neither show any signs of wear.

I carry in either a Krammer IWB Clip holster or a Galco Concealable belt holster with excellent results, no rust ever or appreciable finish wear.

I carried a Kimber Stainless Pro Carry for a short period of time in the same style holsters and it showed holster wear via scuffs from the holsters.

Go figgure........

Both of my USP's have the stainless slide. IMO, the stainless slide makes for easier claning and I know I will never have that dreaded holster wear.
