If you are looking for powder...

Received an email from Natchez Shooting Suppy, www.natchezss.com, that they have powder in stock...

Already placed my 47 pound order, I'm set for the rest of the year...:D

They had almost everything I use or wanted to try except Hodgden HP-38, Winchester 231 and Accurate #2. Luckily I have just under 8 pounds of these left...

They did have 8208, Reloder 15 and most if not all of the VihtaVouri powders but I did not notice Varget...

except Hodgden HP-38, Winchester 231 and Accurate #2.

Cabela's has 1#, & 8#'s of W231 right now. I was very tempted, but I have enough for two-ish years; so I thought it best not to exacerbate the hording mentality.

As far at AA#2 goes (good stuff), I haven't seen it anywhere since the spring of '13. AA2230 too.

All of the local gunshops now have powder on the shelf, weird but good! I still can't find Varget but I did find some CFE-223

LGS has a good selection but is still missing Blue Dot, Bullseye, and Power Pistol. They also have 2 choices in SP primers. The 4 lb and 8 lb powders are still in very low supply to non-existent.

Besides Natchez Shooting Supply doesn't ship to Georgia. Cabella's does have Sellier & Bellot Primers on sale for $19.95 right now without the store imposed "will not ship" list.

I'm seeing lots of Alliant, Hodgdon and Winchester powders at LGS here in VA. 8lb jugs of HP-38 included. Lots of Red, Green, Blue and Clay dots, Unique, Bullseye, BE86, Power Pistol, Auto Comp, Clays, International, HS-6, 2400, 700x, and many different rifle powders.

Not much in the way of AA powders, though. I was tempted to pick up the HP-38 keg, but have about 6 lbs on hand, so passed.

What I really want is Federal SP and LP primers. Had a chance to buy two cases (5k each) of SP primers a month ago but only bought one case, not wanting to be greedy.

I've been poking my head into my nearest LGS lately. They've had a semi-decent selection. About three weeks ago, they had HP-38 just sitting there, waiting for someone to buy - that was a first in over three years.

I was in there today, and the supply looked dwindled a bit, there was still a few goodies. Most notably, AA#5. (I still haven't seen AA#2 in over three years - anywhere.) I asked the counterperson today how things were going with powder and she said "slowly improving" (I was mostly just making small talk; what can I say, she was cute ;).) She also said they have a shipment coming this evening - being available for purchase tomorrow morning.

I have powder; but I may just step in there tomorrow morning. I could use an other # of Bullseye (have <#); and I want to give 2400 a try, if I happen to run across some.

Your neighbor to the south here... I saw HP-38 around Christmas time. Picked up several single lbs of it. Lo and behold, a couple of weeks ago, I found out my local supplier had Win-231! He actually had a few 8lb kegs. Picked one up.... I'm set for a few years I figure.
It's nice to see some "rare" powder show up again. Like Varget!

That is funny, I can find Accurate and Alliant power here in SW Michigan with a little looking. What I have a hard time finding is IMR and Hodgen.

I've notices in 2016 that all of a sudden we have powder available (relatively available) up here in Canada again...Was the most pleasant surprise to walk into the closest local gunshop and to my amazement see that for the first time in years they had a bunch of different IMR and Hodgdon powders (Including that new Enduron stuff)...within 2 months almost all of it is gone now (I had something to do with that, my wife rolls her eyes whenever I buy powder now - "don't you have enough powder already?" to which I respond "haven't you bought enough fabric already"? ) but the online suppliers seem to have a fair bit again too...I've really been having to resist the urge to buy lots of it (financial responsibility sucks) because I'm afraid it's just all going to evaporate overnight like it always does but so far it hasn't. Maybe things can stay this good?

Seeing lots of rifle powders at Cabelas. Pistol powder is still a little hit or miss. They fly off the shelf pretty fast.

Looking for the unicorn that is 2400.

Me too. Oddly enough, when a Bass Pro had its grand opening here last spring, they had quite a few #'s of 2400, and I passed on them.

Since then, I've gotten a 629 Classic with a 5" bbl, and also a Marlin 1894. Granted, I have W296, but it's a bit slow for the 5" bbl 44 (IMO). I purchased it for my already owned 629 & 686 w/ 8-3/8" bbls (and is obviously a great choice for the new lever-action). Both of these long-barreled hand cannons are safe queens; but I always keep a # of W296 handy that will make good use of those Dirty Harry length barrels. A # of W296 typically lasts me about 4 or more years.

At any rate, I have since decided that the W296 will be phased out in favor of something a bit faster and more versatile - i.e. 2400. It will run more balanced in the 5" - which I shoot far more than the other mentioned guns anyway. Yet will still deliver pleny of push in the longer tubed guns - a worthy compromise IMO.

Since I made that decision, I haven't seen hide nor hair of the unicorn that is 2400. :D
