If something happened to your guns, Would you go out and buy one or more right away?

Like if I left my guns on the bus or something?

Yes, I would replace some of them immediately if not sooner. A pistol would be my first replacement followed a hunting rifle.

I keep my regularily used guns in one location (building) and the backups in a separate location so whether due to theft or any other situation there is no possibility of them all dissapearing at the same time. I think storing guns all in the same location, even a gun safe, is not a good idea.

Something happened, as in all my guns were stolen? The first thing I’d do is call law enforcement. Second thing, call the insurance company. Third thing start buying replacements. All with in the first few hours of finding the guns missing. I would buy a replacement 9mm pistol, probably another 92FS, and rifle, probably another AK or maybe an AR right away.

Assume a tornado whips my guns to Oz - I would go buy a:

Glock 19 and some pump shotgun immediately.

Then I would consider how to reconstituted the collection.

I would probably next buy a snubby to strengthen the SD aspect.

Assuming the reason is not a felony charge, I would immediately purchase a 38spl snubbie revolver. After insurance and police issues are dealt with, I would begin to reconstruct the accumulation or part of the accumulation based on finances at the time.

The question is confusing. I assume that you have guns because you want and/or need them for some purpose. Therefore, if they're stolen/destroyed, why would you NOT immediately replace them? Beyond the deductible (any sane person has insurance), what would be the cost? I just can't imagine why anyone would answer "Nah, they were fun while they lasted but I'm over it."

If you live in IL as I unfortunately do you would not be able to buy any right away. You would face a 3 day waiting period while you are defenseless.

How did you loose your guns? What was the circumstance? There are some cases like the big storm in the North East where guns might be the least of your loss. Many folks lost just about everything they owned. You might be in a situation where it is best to have a roof over your head and away to safeguard items like weapons prior to replacing them.

If they were confiscated by law enforcement, you may not be allowed to replace them.

If they were stolen, you may want to give law enforcement time to recover them unless the loss has already been covered by your insurance.

I know some of my guns are old enough to of increased in value, or more like the devaluation of the dollar. Others might be difficult to find replacements. I do have a few too many shotguns I might not replace.

I would buy a Glock 22 or 23 right off and a Remington 870. As soon as possible after that would be a .308 and a .22 of some stripe. Then the process of collecting guns would begin again.

On further reflection,,,if someone robbed my house, I believe I'd hold off replacing too much right away.
I'd still pick up a gun of some sort though.

One of the rackets thieves have going is to rob someone, wait for the insurance to pay off, then come back and steal the new stuff the people bought with the settlement money.

Yep!

I simply could not replace the family heirlooms but all the rest have a purpose. They are tools.

Their purpose would not disappear if the present guns did.
