if price is same?????

if the price is the same for the 1895-G (guide gun) and the 1895SS both in 45-70

Which would you choose and why?

I had an 1895SS and really liked it . I have an Outfitter now in 444 . The only things I do not like about the "Guide Gun" versions are the porting and straight stock , the length is really handy . If I had it to do over I would buy the 1895SS and have the barrel chopped . A really cool one that Marlin has out is the 1895LTD if you can find it , it is a 45-70 , 18" octagon barrel , full length mag tube , straight stock . It is a limited run of 1000 and so marked , they run about $250 more than the standard ones . Good luck , Mike...
