I want to join the NRA and im 17. Will i have to pay to upgrade when i turn 18? When i turn 18 will i get the insurance coverage? any more info you have on junior membership would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Not sure

I do not know the answers to your questions. I would suggest you call the toll free number on the back of your membership card. They should be able to give you the straight scoop. I would also ask about a discounted Life membership rate. At your age you would benefit long term from a Life membership.
Welcome to the board!

He doesn't have a card. He's trying to figure out whether to join at 17, or wait for 18.

OP, here's the contact link for the NRA: https://www.nrahq.org/contact.asp

You could also call 1-800-672-3888, but have a headset (or speaker-phone option) handy, as you might be on hold for a few minutes.

I found this information on the NRA website link: https://membership.nrahq.org/forms/signup.asp

It looks like Junior membership is for a one year period. Since you are currently 17, when you membership comes due for renewal you will be 18. At age 18 you may get a Regular membership which is available in one (1) year, two (2) year, three (3) year, five (5) year and Life Membership varieties.

Junior Membership is for everyone under 18 years of age, it includes a special magazine, Insights, which is oriented toward young people and the shooting sports. Junior Members are not covered by the usual NRA insurance benefits and do not have voting rights.

Regular membership includes some insurance.
