What is better for short range (IDPA): A model 65 3" barrel (fixed sites) or a model 66 2 1/2 in. barrel with adjustable sites. In other words: what is more important for accurancy, barrel lenght or type of sites.

Thanks in advanced for your knowledge.

Typically if you buy a good quality gun with fix sights they will be very accurate strait out of the box. Given your only interested in short range, trying to fine tune your adjustable sights may not be worth it, I'd probably go with the extra 1/2 inch of barrel. Remember a longer barrel not only improves accuracy in most cases, but also helps to reduce muzzle flip thus allowing you to re-acquire the target faster which can be of great help in compitetions.

I'd go for the longer tube. Sight radius will help more than adustable sights, since this ain't a Bullseye match. Look into getting the 65's front sight red-ramped or painted.
