S&M??

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume (hope?) that it says .38 S&W Special.
That is actually the proper name for the .38 special.
Your going to need to post some pictures. There are a bazillion .38 revolvers out there.

More than likely it's just another old Model 10.

It seems that at least once a week, without fail, someone posts this same exact thread, and the answer is almost always the same: a Model 10.

38 spec.

i got this gun when my dad died. just wanted to know when it was made. i just signed up today. do not know much about this particular gun.

Post some clear pictures of it if you can, left side, right side, and what ever markings you can get clearly. Will make ID possible. If you can't do pic. list all markings and where located on revolver.

.38 Special with an S-prefix s/n is most likely a Military & Police model on the K-frame. Most of those made in that era had a 4" tapered barrel, some were made with 2" barrel.

Postwar M&P S-prefixes ran from S811120 to S999999 over the time frame from 1946-1948. Subsequently S&W started a new s/n sequence using a C prefix. When S&W began using model numbers in 1957, the M&P was assigned model number 10.

S&M????!!!!

I knew S&M involved whips and chains, but revolvers?

But seriously folks, after I read this thread a got my Model 10 out of the safe and looked at it and I guess if you squint a little the W could look like M. Or maybe the guy who stamped all the lettering on the OP's gun was, hmmmmm, not dyslexic but whatever it is to see upside down all the time?

Smith and Wesson still makes handcuffs, or at least markets handcuffs with their logo. (Who knows where anything is made these days?) Both sets that I carry daily are SW handcuffs. They even make them in colors.

Moderators: Sorry for jacking the thread. I couldn't help myself:eek:

Okay, okay. I changed the spelling of the thread title. I noticed that the "W" and "M" keys are on other sides of the keyboard, so if this wasn't a typo, let me know, Tobe.

Because this thread could get very interesting...:p
