I am trying to identify this gun please help. The gun has a marking iwth oval with EIG inside the oval and crown on top of it. Its a model 450 with oeig on it also. My son found at a garage sale or flea market. He thinks its a 12 guage
and has the name "Printz Lais" on it. the oval also has a star at the bottom of the oval. Help! Thanks  :) Please contact me at murph8447@yahoo.com if anyone has an ideal. thanks again.

Not enough info. Single shot? double? Where was the logo? Gauge or caliber should be marked on the barrel.

12 guage shot gun not that is why he is having hard time finding out what it is. THe only other thing on the gun is Quality and a another number 1189 an Beigian fine steel. I had to call him to get more information. Thanks for the reply :)

Still hard to give an ID on the gun. From what you so far described it is probably europeon if it says belgium steel and with the "printz Lais", may be of french or belgium manufacture. Could be a diamond in the rough or a piece of junk depending on the price. Single barrels shotguns are a dime a dozen, doubles are hard to come by.

EIG has been used to indicate East India Government on some cutlery items I've seen, also a handful of older pistols. These items were produced in India by the British.

EIG has also been used by EIG Corporation, a US importer.

Are you sure that "EIG" in the oval isn't "ELG"? If it's "ELG" within an oval, with a crown on top, it's definitely Belgian.

It's a Belgian firearm. The lettering is one of the proofs it must undergo. There will also be stamped on the barrels (usually under the forearm, on the bottom side of the barrels) the gauge and the choke, though you may not recognize it as such.

Thanks for the responses this will help alot. I will call him today and see if he can find the marks on the barrel Ya' ll have been a lot of help. Thanks again.
