Would like to add some lights to the inside of the safe as my room lighting isn't the greatest. I was thinking something battery operated (don't wanna drill holes in the safe to run cords) and something that I could velcro to the inside. Velcro sticks VERY well to the lining on my safe. Any ideas?

There are many choices of battery powered, peel 'n' stick LED supplemental lighting solutions at WalMart, Lowes's and Home Depot. They are also available at RV parts retailers and camping suppliers, such as Sportsmansguide.com.

Yeah, I've looked at the ones at WalMart before. I just wasn't sure how well they worked. I guess for under $10 each I get get a couple to try out and if they didn't like I wanted, I'm not out that much.

During the life of my safe I've had three sets installed, this is by far the best of the bunch. Got them from Fort Knox, five brilliant florescent tubes complete with wiring and door switch (around $200). http://www.ftknox.com/ Works just like a refrigerator, door closes and lights go out.

I know you're looking for battery operated and velcro, those don't put out the light and are not much better than a flashlight.

Used to use the circular LED touch ones in our racks/lockers out to sea. They worked fairly well, can't say I recall having too much of an issue with em and battery life was pretty good.

I have a setup similar to Rembrandt but I made my own. I ordered some cold cathode fluorescent lights off ebay for less than $20 for three sets. Each set is two light tubes that are about 10" long each and a ballast box. I went to radio shack and got a switch for the door and a 12v transformer for about $30 and installed it myself. I did a little research on safe lighting and most companies use incandescent hockey puck style lights at the top, or the fluorescent kits that go around the door. I liked the fluorescent kits but they were $$$. I have had mine for over a year and they are working great. If I remember right the lights were designed to be used in computer cases. High light output with little heat.

i use a , flex tube string of tiny bulbs in a clear hose. Thay came with a touch switch, touch once, twice, three, for brightness. Got them in a home decore store about 20 years ago, still works great.:D Gus

I picked up a set of three LED eyeball type from Costco for $10, they have two power settings, they use batteries and have both a button and a motion sensor that can turn them on and off after no movement detected, my safe is small so they work good, they can be mounted with sticky tape or velcro.

Fort Knox

I have Fort Knox and light is not necessary for me . When I open the door lights go out . we've gone through a couple of small safes now, and this is BY FAR the best product we've purchased. if you are looking for a reliable, easy to use yet secure safe, spend the money and just get this. don't waste your time (or money) on cheaper safes that won't get it done. I found http://www.progunowner.com/best-gun-safe-reviews/ and has great and informational reviews about gun safes .

Harbor Freight has magnetic led lights that work great for this purpose. They run about $3 each and have strong magnets that stick to the side-walls of my safe. When my old fluorescent light burned out, I bought 4 of those magnetic lights for my safe.
