I just purchased a Baker SXS double barrel shotgun. It is beautifully engraved with a dog and lots of scroll work. The person I bought it from said it is an "R" model. I removed the forend and there is an H on the forend lug. All numbers match on every part and I was told that means hardened steel and that I can shoot any modern ammo thru it. It is not Damascus or twisted steel because there is no marking or abnormal looking marks on the barrel, so I take it it is steel. I have heard of Fluid steel and this is supposed to be a steel barrel. Does anyone know what the "H" means? And is it safe to shoot modern ammo? I bought it to resale and need to know how to advertise it. Thanks for any help. breeze.
