My brother picked a gift for me. It is a gently used S&W stainless steel 4 inch barrel .357 with some nice Pach. grips. It has fixed sights. He said it was a model 681/2????

What do y'all think about this revolver? Good reputation? Any pics or URL links to pics?

It should be somewhat similar to my old 686 (no dash), except for the grips (mine are the stock wood square butt grips) and the 681 doesn't have the adjustable rear sight.

That's a nice gift you're getting. The fixed-sight L-frame guns are getting a little "cult-y", which is to say "harder to find and with slightly inflated price tags." Good catch.

(Here's its blued steel twin: a 581 "no dash".)
