I Won a GLOCK and need Advice on which one

At a local "support the sheriff" event yesterday, I won a GLOCK.
I can choose from the following models: 17, 19, 22, 23, 26, 27, 31, 32, or 33.

After checking a catalog, it boils down to 9mm, .40, or .357 sig, in full size, midsize or compact.

I'm thinking .40 subcompact with an immediate .357 replacement barell. It MAY become my carry piece, assuming CCW goes well. I have heard that I should get the factory .357, then the .40 barell because of either scarcity or a refusal of Glock to sell .357 subcompact barells.

I already have a full size 9mm Sig, so 9 is out. Midsize seems to still be a duty sized weapon.

Suggestions WITH reasoning, please.
1.) I already own a Sig226, and I love it but it is too big for CCW without a jacket.

2.) I've got .45s, too, but for some reason niether .45 nor 10mm is an option as a prize.

3.) I'm in KALI (yes, my local sheriff presented me with the certificate for the HANDGUN!!), so I'm loking at 10 rounders, tops, regardless of the availability of hicaps elsewhere.

4.) The capacity limit, the fact that I have several "full size" pistols, and the fact that I'm not carrying 30% more pistol if I don't get any benefit are factors. I'm very comfortable with small, powerful pistols, having owned and fired a Detonics, various snub .357s, etc.

I've always thought well of glocks, liked the ones I've fired, but never got around to buying one.

Thanks again to all.

Congrat's on your win!!! :) Personally, I think you have an excellent idea, in opting
for the sub-compact .40 caliber; which of course would be the Glock model 27. I too
own several Sig's; but ONLY the Glock 27.
Go figure!!! I love this little gem and
often carry it in a Galco thumb-break,
belt slide holster; as it makes for a
nice light weight, concealable carry piece.

Other option would be the Glock model 33;
but then again why not just purchase the
.357 Sig barrel for a Glock 27?

I'd go for the 27. I got one and love it ;)
It's a great gun. :)
Congratulations on your win ;)
Happy Shooting :)

I love Glocks, but do not care for the sub-compacts. They feel blocky in my hand. I would definitely handle several to get a feel for them. That is the only way you can get a comfort level without actually firing one. My personal opinion is, however, to give serious look at the G23. I have one, and love it. Properly worn, it is very concealable.

Second vote for the G23. That mid-sized frame of theirs is just perfect, in my opinion. Large enough to provide a good sight radius, and small enough to conceal.

I have a G19 myself, and it goes where I go.

Get the 23, buy the .357 Sig barrel (if you feel you must), and be a happy, happy man!

I would like to cast my lot for what I consider to be the perfect gun for CCW: The Glock 26. The ammo is inexpensive, hence cheap practice. As a concealable weapon, the G26 is unsurpassed. It disappears in a waistband, or a pocket. It was designed from the ground up as a weapon for concealed carry. Another plus is that 15, and 17 round magazines from its bigger brothers fit. :) You can't go wrong with the G26 :D

I wish I would win Glocks too. The only Glock I own is a 27, and I highly recommend it. It's the same size and weight as the 26, so you might as well get the 40. The capacity issue can be solved with a pierce +1 grip extension. Mine has been utterly reliable and quite accurate for a gun this size. Be sure that it feels comfortable in your hand, though.

I also vote for the Glock 23. I find the midsized Glocks to be just about as concealable as the sub compacts, and a they feel a lot better in my hand. Good luck

IMHO it would be a toss up between the 26, 27 and 33. Good luck.

I didn't know they let Sissydel grads play with guns? Does your momma know? :) VMI. Sorry, couldn't resist.

I recommend either the G23 or G19. The G23 will provide a larger caliber, but the G19 is a lot cheaper to shoot. I have the G23 and like it a lot. I also have a G27, but like it less than the G23, because it is a little small, but powerful! Consider yourself lucky. Congratulations.

This would be another vote for the Glock 23. Worn in a Sidearmor IWB 15 degree cant holster, it is one of the best CCW there is.
