I Want A New Toy

Well, money is more difficult to come by lately than it used to be, but I won't get into that as it really gets me in an argumentative mood. Because of that, I don't spend much at all on hobbies any more. However, I have some gift cards that I have received through work and I have been itching to buy something. I've looked at new bicycles, I've considered some silver/gold coins and I've been looking at guns.

Silver/gold coins are easy to come by and don't vary in price too much from place to place, but they aren't that exciting to me.

I love bicycles and have 5. That's down from 7 a couple of months ago and I will be selling another one next week. I've been wanting a cargo bike (Kona Ute), but I missed one on clearance and now I hate to pay full retail.

That brings me to guns. I've considered handguns, rifles and shotguns but there never seems to be anything interesting in the LGS anymore. I would buy a Solo Carry, a KSG or a PMR-30 in a heartbeat if I ran across one just because they are different from the normal fare. I don't really have a burning desire to own any of those, I just want something different.

I've thought about the Springfield Range Officer. I have three other 1911s but that one looks interesting. I've also thought about the Springfield Socom M1A. Trouble is, neither is available.

Has anyone picked up anything that is not a clone of everything else out there and might be available? I've looked at all of the black blobs of plastic that I care to look at.

That Boberg really looks interesting. I just have so many small 9mm pistols that I don't know if that would scratch my itch or not.

I was recently looking for something new to take to the range and "play" with. I ran into the Taurus/Rossi Circuit Judge Carbine. Pretty much they took a Taurus Judge that shoots the 45LC/410 shells and turned it into a little rifle with an 18" barrel and nice wood stock.

Interestingly enough, the other neat little gun I've run across recently is also a Rossi. Its the "ranch hand." You may have noticed Woody Harrelson toting one around in his movie Zombieland. Was intrigued by the fact that it is labeled as a handgun.

To me they both fit the bill of "something different."

Couple interesting ideas off the top of my head:

Piston AR-15 pistol. Pistol caliber for extra points.

Chiappa revolver

Nagant revolver

Kriss Super V

Stopped by the LGS again today just to see if anything new had arrived. They had just happened to receive a shipment and had a couple of items that I never see in there. They had a couple of Springfield M1A SOCOM rifles and a Kel-Tec RFB. Both seemed nice. The Kel-Tec was about $1,400 and the SOCOM was about $1,700. Pretty pricey for a fun gun, though.

Your LGS seems light on selection and just a little pricey unless those are OTD prices. Is it a small store or something?

How about something a little different like a Ruger Vaquero cowboy revolver or Henry leveraction revolver? If you're not into old style guns, what about going weird modern like a P-90?

Just a few options.

It's probably the largest shop other than Bass Pro. The RFB is actually quite a bit cheaper than Bud's, but the M1A Socom is quite a bit more. I did find that strange since the RFBs are almost non-existent.

Go buy a 50 BMG and scratch that itch.

I went back to put money down on the Kel-Tec RFB and was told that I couldn't buy it. They have back orders going back to 2009 for that gun, so, I'm out of luck. Been short on luck for a long time, so, nothing new there. I just can't understand why they were showing it to me without letting me know it wasn't available.

Would you consider buying off the internet instead of LGS? Lots of options open up and also you can shop around for the best price.

As far as different, what do you think about CZ75's? If I had the money I'd replace the CZ75 compact I sold and get another one with a decocker. All metal gun, fits like a glove shoots extremely accurately.

Already have a 75B and a 2075 RAMI.

The nice thing about shopping at this store is they give you 9 months to pay if you want to take that long.
