I want a new gun law !

that states:
Any person who commits a crime with a gun on their person, whether a shooting occurred or not, upon conviction of that crime shall be put to death within 48 hours after judgement. no appeals, no last meal, no clergy present. the sentence shall be executed by firing squad or by hanging.

does anyone think a law like this would deter a person from committing a crime with a gun ?

You are legally carrying a pistol and happen to run afoul of some obscure law,,,
Such as carrying within 1,000 feet of the school you didn't know existed.

There are already similiar laws on the books that increase the penalty for using a firearm. Don't know how effective they are, however. There's also the problem that such a law may make criminals even more violent because dead men tell no tales. In for a penny; in for a pound.

You are assuming the bad guy will be caught and convicted, I assume.

It's also a bit ludicrous, over the top, and is going to result in a discussion that's not going to stay very civil for very long.
