I thought you couldn't own a new gun with high cap magazines.

A gentleman stated that he owned a Bersa Thunder Super, which has a 15 round capacity mag. I thought only LEO's could have those. Is that true? How does that all work? What is the max amount a non-LEO can have in his gun?

The law doesn't set a capacity limit for magazines made before 1994. Magazines made after 1994 are limited to 10 rounds for civilians. CZ-75 pistols ship with 1 15-round magazine that was made before the ban, because CZ made a mountain of 'em.

Preban ammunition feeding devices with a capacity greater than ten are still legal for use by anyone legally able to own a firearm.

The law limiting ammunition feeding devices to a capacity no greater than ten was written to be reviewed in ten years (2004). If no action is taken on the law (like a vote to keep it:barf: ) then the law "sunsets" and is no longer law. So, there is a slight chance.

But, with Ashcroft being the AG and GW Bush being the President, we have a much better chance than if whore...er...Gore was in the White House mucking up the country.
