I think TS has HTF this week!

I hate to say it but around here I think TS has HTF and I'm revving up for problems. I thought I'd had the coyote population pretty much thinned down but apparently they have been recruiting this year. Last week coyotes opened the chicken yard gate (don't ask, but trust me they can do it!) and got into the chickens, carrying off 12 of them. All started to settle down in a day or so, with Ms Meek learning how to shoot a shotgun so as to stand guard.

But tonight I brought home a deer and field dressed it in the front yard. Danged coyotes came within 15 yards of the house to snatch the plastic garbage bag full of entrails. Sounded like a party outside but they all left when I went running out (unarmed except for her little 20 ga and still half covered with deer blood) to join in the fun but they didn't loiter within shotgun range.

So I'm hanging up the deer rifle and breaking out the AR for the duration of the siege. I don't have enough expanding lead bullets so will use FMJs even though I don't think coyotes signed the Geneva accords. The chickens are all demanding revenge, otherwise I'd try to negotiate a cease fire. ;)

No Quarter!!!

"Go in Harm's Way and prevail"! ( paraphrase on J.P.Jones report to Ben Franklin)

Can reload some goos 55 or 64 grainers??

For an update it seems the coyotes have moved on down the road at least for the past night or two. I had a 30 round mag loaded up this week but to tell the truth coyotes are so much hit and run cowards that in the months I've been at odds with them I have yet to be in a position to get off more than a few shots before they disappeared into the darkness.

So I've switched from .223 back to the 6.5 Grendel upper (shooting 120 grain ballistic tips) so I can just continue deer hunting as usual. (It does look funny as a deer rifle, but it has already taken 2 in previous seasons.) I figure that 5 shots from the Grendel would probably put a world of hurt onto more than one coyote, plus the advantage that it's scope sighted, unlike an A2 upper. :o

The chickens are more closed minded. We're down to five eggs a day even though another straggler came back out of hiding today. (I think she was in the barn with the goats.) She was full of rhetoric as only chickens can be and incited them to all lobby for an air strike with napalm. I left just when they were bringing up a vote on waterboarding a couple of the neighbor's dogs.

Heck use the deer guts as bait at a predermined distance such as 50 yards out. Then working as a team have the wife hold the spotlight on em while you exact fowl revenge!
