I think my Python is sick :(

My vintage 2001 Python is starting to show some problems. At the range last weekend, my brother who was standing next to me complained a bit about some spitting. Nothing severe, but he was getting zinged now and then.

I did a little brass checking, and found a lot of suspect stuff, including

way off center primer strikes

some pretty stout primer flattening

and even the occasional holing of the primer (I -think-)

What's the procedure here? Bring it to my local gunsmith? Send it to Colt? If I had to make a guess, I'd say it's starting to degrade pretty quickly.

You have the choice of Colt, or Pittsburgh Handgun Headquarters in Pittsburgh.

They are both excellent, and will figure out what needs doing ASAP.
Pittsburgh used to be Colt's overflow for factory warranty repairs, and do factory-level work.

Colt will likely be the cheapest, and fastest.

I would warn against trusting anybody else, since VERY few people are qualified to work on the Colt action these days.

Hi before sending it off, a few questions?

1. Were you using factory loads?

2. Was the spitting in single action or in double action.?

3. Are you showing a turn line on the cylinder?
