:p Ok, it is on my gun. This old 3 screw keeps working the screws loose. Any help on what to do to lock them down?

Call ruger. The support is SUPERB!!!!! Tell them your problem. The first solution they give you will be the last.

This gun has had the Black Ice finish put on it, and every since it has been done they (screws) work loose. I will talk to my Smith and see which lock tight to use. I think that will fix the problem.

Hmmmmm...seems like that one had it's serial number removed or damaged so it couldn't be read at one time in it's life.
Some aftermarket finishes are so slick that screw threads won't hold. Clean the screw and the threads in the frame with a solvent, let dry, and apply either a little "BLUE" loctite or the 222 Threadlocker (also made by Loctite).

If bad comes to worse, use Mylanta in the threads after they have been degreased. Yup, thats right Mylanta the stuff for your stomach, dries bone dry and the powdery stuff left behind is gritty and will keep your screws from backing out.

Good luck,
Sam T.

Oh, you said Mylanta! I was thinking Milk of Magnesia and how it was supposed to solve another "loose" situation.;)

Blue #242 Loc-Tite. Just make sure you clean both inside and outside threads, and remember to let it set up overnight before shooting.

In a pinch, clean fingernail polish can also work.

Good Luck...

Joe
