I shot the COOLEST .22 yesterday!!!

It was a RUGER .22 semi-auto (model unknown, didn't ask) with a suppressor/silencer on it! A local range is getting into Class II/III gun rental and sales and they have this gun set up with a red dot scope. They let me take it for a test run on their indoor range with no ear protection to see how effective the silencer was and I was VERY impressed!

The report was just a light hiss sound (pffft) with a clack of the bolt. The next thing you heard was the bullett hitting the cardboard target backer, then the backstop with a little clang! The ammo was Remington SubSonic .22LR. The one I shot also has the "Assassin Latch" that locks the bolt closed to eliminate the clacking of the bolt! Man, I gotta have one of these!!! The price tag is $1000 + $200 NFA tax. What a freakin' cat gun, ummm, I mean plinker this would be!!:D

Also shot their RUGER 77/44 bolt action .44 magnum rifle with a suppressor/silencer w/o ear protection. The hiss was a little louder and the clang against the backstop was most definitely more pronounced but you could shoot it all day at the INDOOR range with no discomfort at all! Extremely neat piece but still not as tempting as the .22!!

If you live ANYWHERE NEAR Atlanta, Georgia get yourself out to Wolf Creek indoor range in Douglasville and shoot these awesome toys! Their web site is located at http://www.wolfcreek-gun.com/ It's under reconstruction but it has the number to call for directions, if needed.

They are awaiting one more form from Treasury and they will have Class III full auto rentals. To name a few of their full autos, try on for size an MP5, AR-15 type in 9mm, and a Thompson .45ACP. There were more that they named but these three examples was all I needed to hear! :D

R6<~Scraping pennies to buy a suppressed .22!

I agree... shot a 22/45 with an integral suppressed barrel, with similar results! All I know is, the guy's name was "Jake", and he was a Class III (manufacturer?) Who made all his own stuff. Don't get me wrong, I didn't believe all his stories, but after he left, I asked one of the guys I know at the range, and he said Jake has a can for his HK Tactical, and comes in with a supressed MP5 and MP5/40 from time to time as well. Anyway, WHAT A PISTOL!

I have been wanting one of those for a while now. Imagine the convenience of dispatching pests within city limits without raising a fuss.

Oh, for those that haven't seen it but think a supressed Ruger 22 is neat, be sure to see the movie Assasins.

Lightsped,

That's not the one Wolf Creek has but it's similar. The .wav file on that page sounds a lot like the one I shot! :D

I guess it would! One of the nicer parts of Norway's bureaucratical gun laws is that we can own, and hunt with, suppressors. Handgun hunting is a no-no, though! (That, and bowhunting, is being lobbied for by aficionados.)

But I had the pleasure of helping out a friend last summer, and drilled 5 rather bothersome feral felines with a Norinco JW-15 bolt action .22 rifle with Tasco Pronghorn scope. Muzzle threaded for can. Cheap stuff...

The report is barely more than a click, but impact is noisy. Still much better than shooting unsuppressed. Will not bother sleeping neighbors who don't live TOO close.
Ammunition used was Eley Subsonic HP - good stuff! Bullet placement will do the job and is doable at short range, whistle to make them freeze... ;)

Now im going to get access to a cabin deep in the backwoods, maybe from october 15th.....Looking to buy maybe a Ruger PC-9 or Kel-Tec Sub-9 & bring to the smith to get the muzzle threaded....;) Or maybe I should get a Winchester in .357/.38 to complement my .30-30....

Unless the local PD finds that I own too many guns already.....oh, the terror....make sure that you never get gun registration, please!

Would also like to say that we are shocked about the recent maniac acts of terrorism in your large cities, and with you yearn for justice and resolve...
