I secretly bought a LCP

I think it is a great gun after trying out the p238 and TCP. In fact I like how smooth contoured it is. The trigger on it is really good just perfect for pocket carry. Plus it doesn't kick that much and I can rapid fire 20yds out and keep it on a plate. But I'm gonna get so much flack from my friends. told me friends don't recommend friends buy rugers. Then I went out and got two kel tecs

I have a Keltec P-11. You practically need to put the barrel in a vice to get it to stay on target with that hard, long trigger pull it has. Easily concealable, but I don't want to get shot trying to hit the perpetrator with it.

My P3AT was only reliable with ball ammo of 95grs or greater. My LCP has fed 71gr PowRball, hollow points of all sizes, 115gr LRN, and everything in between without a stoppage.

I also bought the LCP a couple months ago and my experience mirrors yours. It is a well made pistol and after you get used to the trigger it's not hard to shoot it decently. It is long, and fairly heavy, but not terrible or gritty.

It is not a fun gun to shoot, but far from unbearable either.

Trigger

I carried my LCP for a year or two, but the trigger is a concern. Now I carry a Kahr 380, much better for me.

I carry my gen 1 dash SN LCP every day. Weather as my only carry, or as a BUG. I have never been bothered by what some complain about. Long DAO trigger, minimal sights, and snappy recoil. It's performance is completely adequate for it's intended purpose.

I own many dozens of firearms. More of them are Ruger than any other brand... and I have all of the regular ones. There is nothing to be embarrassed about. They tend to make very fine firearms.

The LCP long trigger issue has been cured for some time. The current two versions should be much better, Ruger made changes to lighten the trigger and add actual sights.

Range update: first 50 rounds flawless using federal :D

I actually like the trigger. The really nice gentleman behind the gun counter brought out lcp lcp 2 bg p3at for me to try. (Sorry I skipped the g42 this time but he had it as well) I actually preferred the second gen lcp trigger. It's just long enough and breaks at a point that I don't have to change my grip

Love my LCP, have never had an issue with any ammo including reloads. Have no issue with the trigger , if fact like it for concealed carry. Fits the hand, fix the pocket, and is quite accurate.

Curious. How important are the sights on an LCP when used in a self-defense situation in which a tiny .380 is an adequate firearm? My LCP is a fine pocket pistol but is obviously not comparable to a 9mm, e.g., my LC9 or my SR9c. I suspect the LCP (and similar firearms) are intended for extremely quick, super close range, point and shoot self-defense.

Not that important imho for it's purpose. The lcp sits nicely in my hand and the natural grip points straight down range for me. if the situation calls for it the sights are useable. There's enough light around the front sight post...maybe just paint it a bit

I just recently picked up a Gen 1 LCP. I don't mind the trigger, or the sights. Overall I feel like it is a perfect choice for its intended use, close quarters SD.

Gotta agree...fit in the hand is even more important in a pocket CC gun than in one of the larger models. And for up close, bad breath distance, defensive encounters, it's critical. Too, the long trigger pull that many decry, is no worry for those of us who grew up with DA revolvers; and in fact makes the gun just that more usable from the pocket: no add'l safeties etc to fumble with. Ruger built a winner when it introduced the LCP. JMHO, Rod

Went in to buy a regular LCP for $199, it was sold - they just got in an LCP2 for $259. It went home with me! Nice little gun.

Love my little LCP, it's just perfect sized when you don't want 20 ounces weighing you down.

BTW I find my LCP in a fobus holster is a great fishing combination.
