I repaired a shotgun for a postal employee

OK, bragging time. Our mailman brought over some heirlooms, among them a .410 Mossberg pump with a broken safety. Since I had no way of getting the requisite part in time, I managed to make a replacement out of a washer. I've never taken that model apart, yet managed to figure out how it functions, detail-strip it, make repairs and re-assemble it. Nice gun, too.

Messing around with guns is doing wonders for my ability to make repairs and to reason in 3D. Woohoo!

Didn't figure out how to get the bolt out of a Browning Auto 5, though...any suggestions?

Cool on the fix Oleg.
Not a clue on the 5 bolt.

Thinking in the forth dimension will come, you're gettin close.:D

Browining user manual says, in somewhat more polite terms: "you aren't smart enough to field-strip your gun, don't disassemble it or you'll mess it up!" I suggested that he request a Remington 11 manual re-print.

I've taken apart the reciever on my Remington Model 11, and that was the biggest pain I've ever had with shotgun disassemblies. Even with doing it before, I don't know if I'd be able to tell you anything that'd make life easier on ya:(

Hmmm........a challange indeed. Now I have an excuse to get one of those things. Didn't need that.

I have never yet found anything I couldn't take apart.
Together again nuther thing entirely.

Kudos to you on your repairs!

I've taken down an A-5, and spent last night doing a similar savage for a friend. I'd have to say that the the instructions are pretty accurate... it's a pain.

I have well illustrated instructions from the big book of shotgun dis-assembly. I would be only too happy to scan them and e-mail to you, or to send you photocopies if you're interested.

Regards

-Ben
