I never vote, cause my vote doesn't count

Readers might have heard that sad song before, however I think it was the election before the most recent one, where the U.S. Senate seat from Nevada was determined by about 500 votes. Then there are the ongoing festivities in Washington state, over who will sit in the governor's chair, where the issue seems to hang on VERY FEW VOTES.

I don't know what the issues were in Nevada, nor am I familiar with what is going on in Washington either, however looking at the small number of votes that determined the final result, or will determine the finals, that business about "my vote doesn't count" rings hollow to my ear.

Of course, people can and do vote foolishly, but even foolishly cast votes count. So when next you hear that sad refrain, ask yourself the following. How loudly will this non voter cry over the antics or the actions of an "elected thing" he or she didn't vote for or against, as the case might be, when they had the chance to so do. You might put the same question to the individual.

Well, I've voted in every election since I turned 21 :( I'm 65 now, my conservative friends think I'm a liberal, my liberal friends think I'm a right-wing nut, and the older I get, the more I'm convinced that, if voting could make a real difference, the Jackasses and the Dumbos would unite to outlaw it... :D

With all due respect. . .

The Washington governor's race is now supposedly settled, with the Dem having something like 130 more votes than the Repub. This is the difference, after three (count 'em: three ) recounts of 2.9 million votes.

Of course, The People's Republic of Seattle settled the matter. . .or maybe not: the Repubs will more than likely haul a bunch of shyster lawyers into the fray, like the Dems did earlier.

But please, never, never assume your vote doesn't count. Some among us (meaning those who go armed to the teeth when they hit the head and believe the Second Amendment should have been the First) no doubt voted for the Libertarian candidate. And those votes. . .but let it go.

Washington has had CWP since sometime in the mid 1930's and even the Dems won't mess with that here. But putting a Dem in the Governor's seat just encourages the emotion-driven, left-wing, whack-job nut cases.

Well I have voted on every election, Law, and issue the local and Federal governments deem us capable of fathoming. BUT! Why is it we don't get to vote on where are tax dollars are going when it comes to the issue of these elected officials pay? Truth is they suck! (like the leeches they are.) And should be paid accordingly.
But in truth we all know the golden rule; He who has the gold makes the rules.
This is hard to remember though when one considers another well known fact of our existence; The victor always writes the history.
Regardless I still vote, maybe one day we my get lucky, kind of a Democratic Lotto. Ya think?

The fact that each of the three recounts came up with different tallies. And the fact that 700 some odd votes were 'found' when the recounts didnt come out "right" tells me that one's vote counts even less than had been previously thought.

Not voting is stupid. There are so few things that we CAN do, that we really must do those few things that we can, most notably voting, paying dues to a gun rights group, and boycotting the anti-gun companies, including anti-gun GUN companies. If we're going down, let's at least go down with a fight. Also doesn't hurt to write congresscritters, write the local op ed, and take a kid shooting.

Have you seen the WA state Governor's race? 42 votes at first... I think we're on recount #3, though. I'm not really sure anymore because the way I see it, Republicans won every single recount as of yet, as well as the initial ballot... The Libs just can't take "no" for an answer! :(

Edit: shoulda read the whole thing first... Long colt beat me to it! :-P

Hello everybody.™

Naww....Hey, why put myself on another mailing list? I'm a privacy advocate.

Come on. We know we are going downhill, right? So why waste the time?

At least I view at as waste of time. ONE VOTE!!! Of about 270 Million People...right?

...so...

_____1_____
270,000,000

= 0.0000000037037037

Keep your vote. Thanks.

Like most things, it all depends on the context; in the case of the WA governors race not enough people were voting for the Republican Dino Rossi to counter the number of fraudulent votes the the wholly Democrat greater Seattle area was able to produce AFTER the first two counts showed the Democrat to be the loser.

I'm sure there are a lot of so called pro-gun people here in WA that shouldacouldawoulda voted for Rossi. Too late. Now we will have Christine Gregoire for governor. With the power that seat affords her she will move to cripple the gun industry with the same sort of fraudulent lawsuits that she and other lawyers used to cripple the tobacco industry.

The funny part is that the so called pro-gun people will express shock and disbelief when she commences her attack on the firearms industry. They'll make believe that they couldn't see the logical progression of the use of lawsuits being used as a tool to destroy capitalism by applying said lawsuits to targeted industries that simpleton jurors will be predispositioned to destroy. Clueless &%#@*$!!!

With morons like that on my side, who needs enemies?
