I needed some stress relief yesterday,,,

So, after work I headed straight to the range,,,
It wasn't all that cold and I had just over an hour of daylight left.

All I took to the range was my Beretta NEOS rigged in the Carbine configuration,,,
I figured a few hundred rounds of .22 was just what I needed.

Now I know that when you total the price of the initial pistol (238.00),,,
The carbine kit (237.00), the scope (79.95), and the mounts (20.00),,,
You end up with a relatively expensive little rifle (574.95),,,
But people, this little carbine simply rocks.

I ended up shooting 200 rounds of Federal Bulk Pack ammo,,,
Not one malfunction of any kind and I was hitting tin cans at 75 yards.

I was standing up and using the canopy uprights as a brace,,,
Sighting through a 4-power Cabela's rimfire scope,,,
I was able to hit 61 Coke cans in a row.

For me (and my 60 year old eyes) that's phenomenal shooting,,,
I don't usually do anywhere near that well with my high quality single-shots.

There's just something about that little carbine that seems to fit me. :)

If you ever get a chance to try one out,,,
Don't hesitate because you might be greatly surprised.

I had toyed with the idea of maybe getting an AR style rimfire someday,,,
Now I will never need to consider that option ever again,,,
My NEOS Carbine satisfies my inner range warrior. :D

My range time kept my boss alive unbruised and well. All my aggressions went down range and did put a hurt on whatever I was shooting. Then I left for another job and didn't have or need as much range time. The old boss got put out to pasture because he wasn't doing the job and the place was closed down by the state for failing to meet their safety standards. Unfortunately it put a lot of people out to pasture. Tried to tell him.

Hello Old Grump,,,

My range time kept my boss alive unbruised and well.

I chuckled here,,,
But I do know what you mean.

It's like when I told non-smokers that smoking saves lives,,,
Many was the time that I was thinking, "I'm gonna go kill that SOB.",,,
But I decided to smoke a cigarette first and by the time I was finished I had calmed down.

I quit 30 months ago and have never regretted it,,,
But I did have to come up with a new way to suspend violence,,,
Now at work I leave my office, climb two flights of stairs, then come back.

In this case though, it wasn't boss related stress,,,
It's just a bad few weeks in general for me.

I must say though,,,
There is a cardboard box full of tin cans in my truck,,,
That aren't going to be causing anyone any kind of trouble in the near future. :D

A bulk pack of .22 rimfire cartridges,,,

Nothing relieves stress like shooting. I haven't had much time in the last few weeks except for one or two rounds here and there.

Everyday items are scrutinized before they are discarded to determine if they can be repurposed as targets. Clearance items such as 10 cent plastic trick or treat pumpkins are sometimes purchased. Clearance holiday items are great sources.

I agree shooting takes away stress, pop cans are fun, but stuffed ELMO is even more fun. Did you know if you hit his hand you can make him wave. And it is fraking awesome when you shot the eyeballs off his head.

For some reason you reminded me of a buddy who was chopping carrots one day at a cookout. He chopped one to tiny pieces, whirled and pointed the knife at the bunch of carrots remaining, and yelled, "OK, you saw what happened to him, now where are the others?!" He became a police officer, btw...:)
Range time is always soothing, even if it's not such a good range day. Great way to let the stress go slide away downrange.

I can't agree with you more. I am currently injured and cant shoot much and never knew how much of a stress relief it was until I couldn't do it when ever I wanted. Shooting may have saved my fiance a couple times lol.

I was reading this thread at lunch at work, well dinner 8pm and a friend said "see, gun people are angry! " This was his thought till i gave my 2cents. I feel that shooting is calming because your mind thinks alot when you shoot. All your training just allows you to do it subconsciously. Taking your mind to a different place than stressville. Thats just my opinion though.

Got to be careful discussion shooting as a stress reliever.

Some of our comrades get a bit paranoid, see general forum "stress". when we discuse shooting as a stress reliever.

I too have used shooting to keep my head on straight. A heavy bag and weekly therapy sessions at the range let me get through 2.5 years working for a total A hole boss.

kimberton totally know your frustration about being injured. I have a 338 Win Mag that fits me like a custom gun. Can't shoot it due to a shoulder injury suffered in a training accident. It sets on the rack waiting for the time when Physcial Therapy and a mirical of surgery will allow me to carry it once again.

Sorry to hear that! Nice to know someone else is going through the same thing though lol. I recently had 2 tendons surgically repaired do to a dog attack and i will be in a splint for almost 8 week and then a lot of occupational therapy after that.

So he thinks only people with guns get stressed and work on there hobby to relieve it?

I agree with you on why its calming, fine motor skills and concentration will take your mind off of anything. I noticed the same thing when I took a welding class. I was calming until i smelled burning hair lol.
