I am gonna buy a Savage Arms Police Short action model in .308 Is that a good quailty rifle? i have never talked to anyone that has one.

I have had one since March 01.
Things I like, I like how it shoots. It is easily a better shooter than I am. I am not much of a rifle shooter so it fits my needs very well.
Things I don't like...The stock sucks, it's flimsy and adds nothing to the fine shooting rifle. The trigger is sloppy and will need work eventually. I have tuned mine a bit and it is coming along.
Do a post search on TFL fpr more information. There are several FP owners on here and many posts have already been written.
You can buy the gun and shoot it as is and still shoot sub-moa with it.
When you get around to buying a new stock and trigger you can do that if you feel the need.
Overall I rate mine an 8 on a scale to ten.
Buy a good high dollar scope ($400-$500) and you will be very happy with your purchase.

I am waiting for mine sometime next week but I am alread looking for a replacement stock.
McMillian has them for as much as more tham the price of the rifle. Choate Tool has a few offering and tomorrow I am calling Ruger about the VLSS laminated stock.
Everything I have read has been positive other than as mentioned above. Trigger and a few simple things.
