I was at the local gun shop yesterday, and I was looking at a SIG PRO SP2009 in 9mm. I do not know much about this gun, as I was planning on getting a GLOCK 19. Now, I am starting to change my mind.

Can anyone give me information about the SP2009? How about the availability of good holsters? Brands of ammo that work best? Quality? Ease of carry? Comfort in the hand?

Thanks in advance!

I went through a similar decision process about a year ago, and decided to buy the SP-2009. Pros for the Glock: smaller/more concealable, indefinite service life, legal hi-caps are available - albeit expensive, and easier to find holsters for. Pros for the SP-2009: cheaper (here), fit my hand better, decocker, excellent SA trigger pull, a little safer (at least for me) to keep as a bedside pistol when I return to the States, more refined (strictly an opinion), and last but not least; it's a SIG. I believe you would be well-served by either & it will probably boil down to which one "fits" you better. Can't comment on reliability w/ hps/defense rounds since they're not legal here + the jury's probably still out on service life. Good luck ...

Check out http://www.sigforum.com/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/sigforum/Ultimate.cgi?action=intro

This is an excellent forum which focuses on SIG's. They have a search function with which you can read posts on the P2009. This will help get you up to speed. It is also easy to join the forum; post your inquiry there and you will quickly become hooked up with some very experienced, knowledgeable and helpful people.

I have a preference for SIG's mainly because of the ergonomics and out-of-the-box accuracy and reliability. The most important thing you can do is to shoot everything you can lay your hands on.
Buy what you shoot best and continue to practice.

I like the Glock 19 better. I have several "P" series SIG Sauer handguns and didn't like the SIG Pro felt in my hands.

I don't think the SIG Pro is any safer than the Glock. Both will launch if you put your finger on the go button.

I don't care much for Sig's Pro series. Their P-series firearms are among the best you can buy, but I just don't like the fit and feel of their polymer guns.

IMO, the G19 may be Glock's best overall offering in terms of capacity and concealability. I own and carry one, and it's just a tremendous piece of work.

Have you tried both or either at the range? If not, try to do so prior to buying.
