I need to replace the firing pin spring, but I cant get the bolt apart, I went by bob tuleys instructions http://www.bobtuley.com/mauser/ but instead I used the hole cut in the stock to depress the spring because it looks like the firing pin could easily break the way he does it.
I cant tell what to rotate once you depress the spring.
I got pinched a couple times and I'm bleeding, i must be doing something wrong.
any help would be appreciated.

First, make sure the safety is in the middle position, so you can use you thumb on top of it to help you pull the shroud down.

With your thumb over the safety and your hand around the shroud, pull the shroud down, and turn the cocking piece. This is the round cylinder that protrudes from the rear of shroud. Turn it 1/4 turn in any direction, and ease up on the shroud. It'll push the cocking piece off.

thanks, I figured it out, I was doing it right I just had to wiggle the cocking piece for it to come off and I didnt hold it down once it came off, hit me right between the eyes

lesson learned: Wear safety glasses when dealing with things under pressure, 1 " to the left or right and I could of lost my eyesight.
