I need help identifying this Ruger Security Six.

I could be wrong but I believe they changed the grips with the 151 prefix on the serial numbers. Do you actually have the gun?
Thanks. That's what I was thinking due to the "scalloped recoil shield". Is that the technical term for that? Recoil shield? I never knew what that was called exactly. In my head, I always referred to it as the cylinder guard. Recoil shield makes sense though.
Due to my not knowing what it was technically called, I was never able to search and track down any information regarding the frame redesign. I know high back and low back versions exist with the full size, half dome, non scalloped (again, not really sure the exact term) recoil shield. I wasn't sure if the scalloped version was only exclusive to later models or if they existed on low back versions as well.

I suspect it is a later gun (the front sight has the colored insert).
Take the grips off and show us the shape of the backstrap. (It does not matter that you don't own the gun yet - GET IT!)
I own a few security sixes. The mix (compromise) of strength, weight, capacity and cost make them the best 357s in the world and I would jump on that one with both feet in a heartbeat.
The humpback/highback/lowback is beside the point for me. Some people liked and some people disliked the way the guns fit their hands, that's all. Functionally they are identical. If this one doesn't fit your hand with grips small enough for concealed carry, you should be able to trade it for another Sec.Six that does. But you won't regret having this one, for sure.

The Sixes were Ruger's first double-action revolver and are said to have been unprofitable, so discontinued. But I opine that they are superior to the GP series as carry guns and superior to the SPs for actual shooting.
The only thing that would make me willing to give up any of mine would be a downsized GP. My 2 3/4" barrel Security Six is almost as easy to carry concealed as an SP and not all that much heavier but still holds six and is a LOT easier to shoot.
